I just overheard three of my co-workers talking. One of them is fighting a cold, and she told the other guy, and he goes ah, just tough it out, and then the third co-worker goes yeah, that's what I say when myself or one of my kids is sick...don't be a wuss, just tough it out. f*** I hate these people even more than I did beforenow.

Well... depending on the severity of the cold I would probably have to come to work. I don't have enough sick leave to take off every time I get the sniffles. Actually, I have a scratchy throat and cough right now, and I'm at work, not sick enough to stay home. Mine is probably either allergies or sinuses though. Now I would never do that to a kid. There was nothing worse as a child than sitting at school feeling like crap, that is traumatic for a child.

tiff - oops, I didn't mean they should stay home withan ordinary cold, I was just irritated by the attitude of "I am tough because I go to work when I am sick."

Unfortunately I work for a company that doesnt believe in sick pay, now ultimately that doesnt bother me, if Im ill and cant work I dont go in, but others have this "hey Im a martyr Im Ill but I will still work" attuitude which really p***es me off as they then make everyone else ill. If I had my way I wouldnt let anyone through the door that had V*within the last week.

I suppose its a good job Im just the team leader andnot the manager!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I see your point, but the rest of the world doesn't see vomiting like an emet does. to most people, getting a a stomach flu isn't worse than getting a cold. I actually know quite a few people who favor the stomach virus because it's usually over sooner.

So, I think that it's not the rest of the worlds fault if we have a problem with this. Its ours. Those people arn't idiots. They are simply living their lives. It's not a huge inconvience to them like it is to us. they are the norm. we are not.

While, as an emet, I hate to see people come into work if they've been sick stomach wise, I realize its not their problem, its mine. As long as they take percautions not to spread it around, and to leave if they get sick ( throw up) while at work) then I don't have an issue with it.

Jill, I think you are very right about how non-emets look at things. But when we were kids, my mother didn't let us go to school for two days after we vomited (which only happened to me three times, thankfully). This was so we wouldn't infect other people. I wish more non-emets had learned that. Doug
