I don't mean out of date or anything. I made some Progresso Chicken Noodle soup for myself tonight and the noodles seemed kind of chewy. I usually buy the same soup but in the microwavable bowls and this was in a can, so I thought maybe that was the difference. The flavor was fine. Then, I was looking at the chicken and it looked kind of pink! Am I going crazy looking for problems? Was this soup bad? As soon as I saw the pink chicken I dumped it all out, but I had eaten about a 1/4 before it got to that point. I tried to tell myself I was just worrying too much, but now I am afraid that I ate too much of something bad.

You should be fine as long as it was within date, and the can was not dented/or rusty.

It was definitely within the date - I just bought it today! I think it said it expired in 2008. I made a can for my husband too, since he wasn't feeling well, and he said his noodles weren't chewy at all. I hope my can wasn't bad!

You'll be fine, things in cans are already cooked, all your doing is just re-heating it, and it says not to over cook them as it decrease's flavour, so you'll be fine, try not to worry, i used to eat cold baked beans lol.

Canned soup is fine. It is cooked in the can! Seriously... that is how it is processed, as I learned thanks to Unwrapped on the Food Network . In terms of the chicken being pink, that could be caused possibly from the way it was preserved and or maybe even food coloring (you never know what is in stuff sometimes).

Everytime I eat canned chicken soup, the chicken is always pink to. I always take all the chicken out before I heat up the soup.

I don't ever eat the chicken either (I was just worried it was contaminating the rest of the soup)! I have never taken it out, but I have thought about it. That's probably something only an emet would do - buy chicken soup and not eat the chicken!

That's funny. Before I became a vegetarian, I used to pick out half the chicken from canned soup. Just the pieces that looked "wrong" to me. But I never got sick from canned chicken soup.
