Welcome to the forum. We can all understand the fear when someone you are in contact with is ill. There is a good thread about transmission/prevention of sv's, if you haven't checked it out lately. I think it's in the "Questions and Answers" section, near the top. The main thing is to keep your hands clean, and not touch your face. Sv's are transmitted through the infected person's v* and feces. Basically from poor hygeine. If you last saw your co worker before she had symptoms, you should be just fine.

Welcome to the site, I agree with Daffodil, there's not much chance you'll have caught this - I'd go as far to say no chance. We all know the fear though!

    Hi, all!

I too am new to this website and in a state of low hysteria - My husband visited his mother for 20 minutes this past Fri. - No kiss hello/physical contact/shared food, et al - Sat. both she and my brother in law came down with a sv - It appears the incubation period is approximately 48 hrs as my mother in law caught it from her sister (who had symptoms two days earlier) - Today (Mon.) my father in law has symptoms - Am I going to get this? I'm TERRIFIED. We long passed the 48 hr mark symptom free but I won't relax until two weeks pass. That's when the 3Dflashing red neonsign in my head (EXPOSED! EXPOSED!) seems toturn off. I've suffered from severe emetophobia since being 3 (I'm 36) - Advice? Words of appeasement? My father is a physician and well used to my madness in this department - He feels I'm in the clear.

I literallyalmost killed my husband for even going over there! Not his fault of course, but still...Thanks toyou all...

Welcome to the newbies, this site is a great source of information, comfort and just friends. It's also really nice just to know you aren't alone in this battle.

I hope you're still fine -I can totally relate to the panic when you think you've been exposed to an sv, backtracking to think if you might have touched a hard surface and then eaten a sandwich or something without washing your hands, the sinking feeling when you realize you have, counting down the days until the possible incubation period ends and then counting down the days until the contagion has ended before you can see that person again, those times are really stressful and draining! Keep thinking happy thoughts. I'm new to this site, too. It's really going to help me out this winter!

A big welcome to you, candie, and luvbeads and valkyriegrl!

I think the majority of us emetophobes go for years and years thinking we are alone in our bizarre reaction to v*ing, I know I felt like a real weirdo for feeling that way. Then you discover there are literally thousands of other people who feel exactly the same way - it's a big comfort! This site is certainly a big comfort - loads of friendly and supportive people here!

    Hi all again!

Letting everyone know we appear to be in the clear (this time) from the sv - I got myself so worked up last week over it I made myself 'sick' and didn't attend a big engagement party this past Sat. - All those who had the virus were slotted to attend - I just don't feel comfortable being around those who have had a sv until two weeks have passed. That's the 'unsafe' period I've always designated for myself.

Thanks for all your understanding and replies! Am starting to relax now but of course will not let the guard completely down until this Firday (the two week mark) comes and goes trouble-free!

How GREAT it is coming here and being able to let it all hang out! I'm always so self-conscious about being an emet around those who don't (or can't) understand...
