When i woke up, and sat up i had this shoting pain go through my stomach, and it was just below my ribs, all over my stomach area, backand further down. I got up and went to the bathroom, i have like a lump around my bellybutton (sounds funny lol) and its like a swallon ring round the whole thing, but i don't know if thats causing it. I get IBS so it could have been that, also im wondering if it anything to do with periods, as i havn't had one for 6months now due to losing to much weight and it feels as if im getting the pain and thats it, another thing is i was dumb enough to hit my self again in the stomach yesterday, and as i keep doing this i don't know what damage im doing to my insides and another cause im not sure, but i eat 4 bits of toast and 2 ginger biscuits everyday and nothing else for the past few months, do you think that could be causing all of it?.., so im kind of confused what this is, as im getting pains all over my stomach area, and low down in the stomach..i just don't know whats causing it..Edited by: xroofusx

If you haven't been eating very much, it could be stomach acid. But it could be IBS too. And if your period is coming, well we all know that IBS plus a period for some folks makes life awful. I hope you feel better soon!!

Sometimes it can be acid build up, and gas that can't escape. Also, long periods of eating very little can cause your body to start digesting itself, so that could be it as well

Could you be hungry? I know that my stomach starts getting all weird and achey when I get hungry.

It's probably your body reacting to too little food. If it makes you feel better, you could call the doctor and ask them. Hope you feel better soon!

Thanks for the replies, it went off after a while, then came back. I've had trouble with my stomach for a year or to now, i mean just eating bread and biscuits everyday for a year, i think could be doing this to me, so i guess its my own fault..there the only food i find safe, its like i think i only eat so little as i know that when i feel ill, it would be because of not eating right? if that makes sense, like then if i eat normally and begin to feel ill, i will start thinking oh no its the sv or something, as i couldn't blame it on the fact of my diet..i don't know if that makes any sense..

I know what you mean, with the food. I have done the same thing. I always worry more about my stomach feeling crappy if I am eating more food, but can blame it on hunger/poor diet if I have been living on rice cakes and gatorade.

Is that all you eat rice cakes?? and drink gatorade..how do you get your energy, i mean by eating toast and biscuits for a year, my energy is going right down, last year i had more energy as i was eating about 4 bits of toast, and 6 biscuits in a day, sometimes having pasta, rice, mash. Maybe its because i don't put anything on my toast i have less energy..

No, I eat other stuff. I have been eating pretty well the last week or so. I just go through phases where things are bad, and I will eat rice cakes, crackers, toast, stuff like that.
I have been taking phenergan, and that helps with the eating.

Awww, well its good you try and eat as much as you can, to get energy. Im sorry to go on about this, last year i was eating 4 bits of toast with butter and marmite and like 6 biscuits in a day, then i didn't have my ocd and i had energy, but do you think that was a lot to eat?? i used to get stomach aches and stuff then, but that could have been because it was just bread and biscuits and there was nothing good in it..

I think I know what you're saying. I used to dig my fingernails
into my side. I think I did it as a distraction against the
horrible anxiety I was feeling at the time and to see if the pain would
distract me from that. Now, does THAT make sense?

I'm worried you are harming your stomach. Have you told your parents or a doctor?

Oh, and the twitching. I do that with my face sometimes if I get
really anxious. I have this overwhelming urge to just squinch it
up and tighten all the mucles in it. It's like I can't not do it.

Hey Ruth,

I worry about you a little bit. I want to be careful in what
I say because I a) don’t want to worry or upset you b) seem like I am preaching
or not understanding, as I am sure you get that a lot anyway. I think A LOT of
people on this forum, myself included, have had our share of not eating and
self harm. I also spent a few years eating very little (i.e. tea and saltines,
for example), but I don’t think I went longer than a few days or a few weeks
without eating a little more than that. For my part I now that once I was put
on meds that gave me an appetite and reduced anxiety, I felt much better being
able to eat and being interested in food. The obsessive irrational thoughts
about food also got better on the meds and I can say that I feel much better
now. I know the meds they gave me they give to people with anorexia. Now, I
think eating disorders such as anorexia can be applied to emets, because even
though we don’t do it to stay thin, we do it because of our nerves (aha –
nervosa!). So there is treatment for that, you know, to make you hungry. There
is such a stigma against eating disorders and if you are labeled as one they do
strange things like forcing you to eat (hello – has forcing ever helped
anyone?) but I think with the right understanding and with people being told
that the reason for the anorexia is emet, there may be a better way out. I
remember that you were hospitalized for this, and from a biologist stand point
I have to say that I know a body can’t take this kind of abuse for very long.
It sounds like maybe it is time to start trying to do something about it. I
don’t like what you said about your therapist, the one who yelled at your mom.
I think there ought to be better ways of dealing with this. I just want to make
sure you realize that this sort of eating habits in the end will only make
things much worse, and that there are gentle ways to get passed it.

As for the self-harm – I hit myself on the chest, not too
hard, but enough to distract me. I don’t think it is causing any actual harm so
I am not that worried about it but I think that if you look at your situation
as a whole, if you get some sort of help for anxiety/phobia (again, I have to
promote meds here but whatever works), then you will feel less worried about
eating, eat more and eat better, and then I think the hitting will also
subside. It is all so interconnected and when you so far off the deep end it is
sometimes hard to see a way out or to even want to change cause you are almost comfy
with where you are. I guess I would just recommend, that if you are not on
them, try to get some meds for anxiety, not the drowsy sort but the long
lasting effect ones, like celexa etc.

We care so much about each other here, and I think we all
wish you well. I hope your belly will feel better soon, but I firmly believe
that if you somehow eventually start eating more you feel sick less often too
(I know this was true for me as I used to feel sick 24/7 and now that I eat 3+
times a day I feel vaguely n* only a few times a week!)

So must best wishes and please don’t take this as yet
another lecture. I truly just wish you well.

Many many hugs.

Paulina</span>
