does anyone have any "tricks" they use to help supress a head cold. i've had thiscold for 4 days now and it will not go away. its like my head is a big balloon of congestion. it's all stuck right in between my eyes, above my nose and in my temples and it does not want to go anywhere. i've tried an allergy med but it did nothing and i wanted to try cold-eeze but on the back it says something about getting an upset stomach so i decided that it wasn't worth it. anyone have any home remedies they use when their head is congested?

I don't have any "home" remedies, but Nyquil tablets works really well. The night time (green) tablets are 10 times better than the day time (orange) tablets, but they may make you sleepy.

It seems like summer colds take forever to clear up! UGH!!!

I wish I had some advice, I too am suffering with a summer cold, its awful!!!! I even went to the doctor yesterday and she said that is was "just a cold." If I am not any better in a few more days, Im calling her back for an antibiotic.

I hope you get to feeling better soon!!!!

get a small bottle of water that you can use as a spray and mix
together lavender, rosemary, thyme, and orange juice- fresh from an
orange not a carton- and add three drops of each of these. spray it
over your bed sheets and itll help. Or put 2 drops of lavender and two
drops of eucalyptus in your bath. Or put two drops of lavender, two
drops of eucalyptus, and two drops of rosemary or thyme with a bitof
orange juice onto a cotton wool ball and put it under your pillow while
you sleep. Make sure not to put too much eucalyptus on anything though
because it can burn your eyes when you breathe it in . i know it all
sounds stupid or too much hastle but it really works.

Spicy food. No, really I am serious. Thai, Mexican, or something else will help clear up that air-balloon head feeling fast.

It may not help your congestion right awat, but taking a supplement like Emergen-C can help your body fight it, and I think it shortens the cold.

I've had a cold for the last week too. On Friday and Saturday I totally lost my voice! My fiance (cheeky bugger) said it was bliss. I thought I was just about over itby Sunday night as I felt so much better then on Monday I felt rotten again and still feel full of cold today.

The things that I do are try and eat/drink extra vitamnin c containing foodstuffs, sprinkle olbas oil (or eucalyptus oil) on my pillow at night and on ahanky during the day, and try and get plenty of rest. Apparently you should cut back on dairy products and avoid bananas too as they are muccus forming foods. I also take painkillers for the headaches and general aches and pains.

My fiance swears by hot water with freshly squeezed lemon juice and honey mixed in. I absolutely can't abide honey or lemon though so very rarely use this remedy!
