Can it make a kid sick to eat poop? I mean, just a little. My three year old took off her poopy diaper while I was in the other room, and when I came back in, my one year old was holding a piece of it, and I think she may have eaten a little.
I am having the worst luck with poop lately!

My mom says that my sister and I used to eat our own poop. Kind of
gross. Don't know if it made us sick or not, will have to ask mom.

My friends 2 year old fed his 9 month old brother the contents from his nappy ant the baby was absolutely fine, so i do not think it wil make your little girl sick. Children are so lovely but sometimes they do such yucky things. My son once ate a worm in the garden(well half a worm actually, he spat the other half out!). I worried for days that it would make him ill but he was absolutely fine. I am sure your daughter will be fine.

Heh heh. That's funny about the worm. We have snails in our yard, and my one year old is always trying to put them in her mouth. I have actually heard that earthworms are nutritious!

Yes it definetly could, but like people pointed out it doesn't necessarily mean that it without a doubt will. I mean I'm sure you don't really need me to tell you that consuming human waste is horribly unhygeinic. Basically just keep an eye on your daughter for a few days just incase, and then don't let her make a habit of it.

O/T: Yes it's true, insects like grubs and such are very nutritious...they're high in protein. Disgusting, but that's even something that they teach in survival courses.

I believe children eat all sorts of things (heard the worm one quite a bit!) and it actually helps build their immune system up. The worst thing you can do for baby is to put it in a *too* cleanly environment.

    Has your daughter been ok?

So far she has been fine. I think we're in the clear, since she did it on the 9th, and it is the 12th today. Ugh. Children.

Ugh, gross! I actually did this when I was a baby, too. I do know that E.Colican be found inhuman fecal matter, socan cholera, but it may not be present in ALL feces, I really don't know! Obviously your baby wasn't infected, or else he/she'd be really sick by now! Maybe she didn't eat any after all...did you smell her breath?lol!

I didn't smell her breath, I was too grossed out to do that, but I looked in her mouth, and didn't see anything. I just know my kid, and she puts everything in her mouth. But I guess if she did, it was a small enough amount that it didn't make her sick. Thankfully!! I am going to be much more vigilant from now on.

Oh, yes. It's true. I have heard of kids actually painting the walls with their own poop when they are put down for a nap. I have been lucky not to experience that one. (Knock on wood!)

Madison has done this before. She will stick her finger in her diaper and have poop on her finger and wave it in my face and say "ewwwww". She has taken her diaper off before and I had the same fear...that she ate some. It cant taste good so I doubt they would get that much.

She hasnt gotten sick from it.
