Okay so, this is kind of embarassing but....my periods are quite heavy
each month, so much so that i usually have a few days where i feel quite
sick. This has made me anemic and im supposed to take iron tablets but
the side affects of those make me feel incredibly ill also...so being an
emet means i'm really putting off taking them, which isn't good! Aside
from that though, I've been thinking about going on the pill to ease the
pain each month...but, a few of my friends have told me that although
everyone reacts differently, they have had experiences where they have
almost v* from the side affects.

I'd like to know if anyone else has had this problem and if so, how have
they dealt with it?

Thanks,
Fiona

I have been on the pill before...and it gave me a tummy ache. Everytime I would take them, my tummy would hurt. Even if I took them at night, my tummy would hurt the next day. There is this other thing called the nuva ring. Ask your doctor about that.

I take mefenamic acid when i have my period as 3 years ago (today acctuly 13th of june) i had such a heavy period and i kept constantly v* from it, so the doctors gave me them and i found that helped so much!! its takes about an hour to work, but it helps the cramps and stops it from being so heavy. Your meant to take them with food or milk though so they don't cause a stomach upset, i've had no problems with them, i have one with a slice of bread normally and they really do help.
TEA!! IS AMAZING!!
indeed it is! :]

I have never felt ill from being on the pill and have had the morning after pill and still no n*. Mention your emet to your doctor, he/she might suggest an anti-emetic in the short term to counter the possibility of any n*.

You could increase your iron intake naturally rather than through supplements e.g. dried fruits, whole grains (including wholemeal bread), nuts, green leafy vegetables, seeds and pulses.Edited by: suze

I've been on the pill (I'm on mycrogynon) for about eighteen years (on and off - last ten years on) and never noticed it cause any stomach problems or nausea whatsoever. When I don't take the pill I have very painfull periods and they are so heavy too. When on the pill I hardly notice I'm havinga periodand they are so light

I took the pill to help with my periods after I had my daughter and it helped. The only side effect I had was headaches for maybe the first month and then they went away. No v*!

I've been on the pill off and on for years. I never had a problem with periods but when i'm on the pill they are a million times lighter and no cramping! I've never ever felt sick from the pill. I've always used kinds with low estrogen like orth tri cylcen low or allese so maybe you can try something with low estrogen! I think it is definately worth a try and if you do feel sick you can always stop taking them. Good luck!

I've been on a few different types of BC's, some were good for me, others weren't. Now I have an IUD, bt that's a different story.

I found that some had less side effects than others. I actually gained weight. I was never nausious from any of the pills that I took
