I of course just started my period, and well last night was awful. I
woke up like 2am, and I was almost doubled over my stomach was cramping
so bad, but it was like just below my ribs. I thought that menstrual
cramps were only below the beltline. I did end up having to erm use the
facilities, and so yeah that kept me up most of the night, and man I do
this to myself every month but I get freaked its a bug or something and
get afraid to eat. I know its stupid, you'd think I'd know by now its
just my period or whatever, but ugh its like that nagging voice going
"what if its a bug?!?" But well can menstrual cramps be that high
up?

Hey, awww im sorry your feeling bad. When i get my period, i have cramps above the beltline and all round the back, they effect people in all different ways, and i always get an upset stomach when i have mine, so it probaly is just from your period. Make sure you get something like a hot water bottle to put on your stomach to ease the pain a bit, take care.

Hey Ruth, thanks.

Man do you ever feel like your period/emet has to ruin everything? I mean okay here in the USA today was fathers day, and my brother held a bbq for my dad, and I went, and I just felt like dirt most of the time, then finally had to leave because I felt so sick (mainly due to period), and I just hate it. I feel so bad, I just wanted to have a good day with my family and insteadI was misreable. Its like I'm always the girl with the stomach ache or something. They probably think I make it up, but its not at all. I just wish I didn't get so awful feeling the first day or 2 of my period its almost like I have to cross those days of the week off. I felt like such a party pooper today.

Awww im sorry. Yeah i understand how you feel, but don't feel bad, becaue your not making it up. I know it can be really annoying sometimes. Do you take any meds for your period pain?? maybe if its getting really bad its stopping you from doing things, maybe go see the doctor to give you seomthing?. To be honest right now i wish mine would start (sorry tmi) but i havn't had one for nealry half a year, but i seem to be getting the cramps? its weird..

I hope you feel better soon, try and relax and have a warm bath and keep heat on the area that hurts. Have you ever tried doing like yoga moves? they can really help sometimes, take care.

Hey there! I'm sure we can all relate. Are you on the pill? If it's not against your religious convictions, I highly recommend it. Although Yasmin is the best pill for me, as far as cramps go, it killed my sex drive. So I switched to Nuvaring. My cramps are worse, but my periods are shorter.

If you're afraid of the pill being an abortofacient (potentially causes abortion, if you believe life begins atconception), maybe you can use condoms too? I noticed you have wicked bad periods. I really think the pill can help alot. Have you been to the gyno? Maybe he/she can recommend something? Have you been tested for endometriosis?

Anyway, to answer your original question: on the third day of my period, I always get diarrhea. Don't know why, it's just always been that way. And sometimes, the cramps or ache starts in my stomach and then moves downward. So I'm sure it's all period related.

Hope you feel better soon! Edited by: HDogg

I'm sorry you have such bad cramps. Reading this thread actually makes me dread the end of my pregnancy. It has been so nice the last 9 months! Pretty soon I will be right there with you again!

I agree with Hdogg though - the pill definitley helped decrease the cramps. I think they may have been a contributor to my IBS though, because ever since I got off of them, a couple months before I got pregnant, my IBS has decreased to practically nothing. I'm debating whether or not to get back on them. I know I'm nto ready to be pregnant again though, so it probably isn't worth the risk of staying off of them!

o cramps are horrible! I know what you mean, about how they can really ruin a day. The whole period does. All of a sudden, I have to worry about what I wear (because of being bloated and if I want to wear a pad I wouldn't want to wear anything tight that the pad can be seen through), worry about going to the bathroom and changing pads and tampons, and not being able to focus or do things I want to becauseI amfeeling disgusting. At least its not that long...

Well, the thing is I don't generally get cramps like that. What I'm wondering is if they weren't "needing to go br" cramps, which I think they were. I just didn't know what was causing it. I don't think my periods are that bad, but I do tend to get nausea as the worst symptom. I have heard of endometriosis (my cousin has it), and from what I've heard its like I don't have periods near that bad. I know I complain a lot about them, but its mainly the nausea that gets me. I am seriously considering the pill for bc reasons mainly, but the side effects of a less longer period would be nice too!

Oh yes! Short periods are wonderful! I just finished one that only lasted four days! Normally mine are 7-8. But even so, periods are still a pain. I feel so gross and unsexy. Blech!

I had my period last week and it always ends Friday/Saturday (my periods run pretty much like clockwork cos I'm onthe pill)as it did this time, but on Sunday I had really bad stomach pains that felt a bit like period pains but couldn't have been as I'd finished and I don't get pain like that anyhow since being on the pill. It was really weird. I was out with my fiance and best friend when the pain started too so I panicked a bit. They just kept telling me it was wind and making a big joke of it Anyhow the pain lasted a couple of hours on and off then disappeared, it was strange and I don't know what caused it (I'm ok now).

I think sometimes you just get these pains out of the blue not caused by anything in particular but when they happen in our stomachs, us being emets, panic and wonder what the eck is going on.

Hope you are ok now! Oh and I do really recommend the pill if you suffer with your periods eg heavy bleeding, lots of back and belly ache etc - all that will disappear!
