After feeling so fantastic with the news of my husband coming home, I have come back down to earth with the upsetting news that my very good friend has been rushed into hospital with bad stomch pains and v*ing. I arrived home this afternoon to find a message on my answerphone from my friend's dad. He seemed to think it may be appendecitis. I rang my friend's dad back and he said he did not know what was wrong, but my friend was in the operating theatre and he had been asked to go to the hospital. He could not tell me any more but said he would let me know later how everything was. This was 5 hours ago and I still have not heared anything. I am so worried. I have tried calling her dad but got no answer so he must still be at the hospital. It was only yesterday that my friend was at my house and we were planning on taking our children to the beach on Sunday. My poor friend has been having a tough time lately and I feel so bad that she is so ill now. She is such alovely person .I just want to hear that she is alright.

I'll send some of my prayers her way...it might not even be that serious. My sister went into emergency surgery maybe like 2 months ago for massive abdominal pain and V*ing but they found out what the problem was and corrected it, and she was fine. I was worried but medicine these days is really good, just be glad we don't live in the 1800's.

Thank you everyone for your kind words. I have still not heared how she is and don't expect I will until the morning now as it is 11.30pm. I really hope she is o.k. I just want to see her and give her a big hug as I know how scared she will be.

It could very well be appendicitis...the last time I v*ed (which was
about 5 years ago), was when I had to have my appendix removed. And the
abdominal pain was so bad that I had to be wheeled into the hospital.
Fortunately, it isn't dangerous to fix, just a 4 or so hour emergency
    operation and you're all done

Whatever it is, I'm sure she will be perfectly fine. Good luck to you and to her.

Curly, sorry i didn't spot this message last night. How are things now? Have you heard anything? I agree with the others, althought the symptoms sound awful, it could be something routine. She could even have a burst appendix which although serious is treatable. I'm sure in this case that no news is good news. Keep us posted. Thinking of you.

Wishing your friend all the very best for a quick recovery from whatever has caused this, and try not to worry too much, she is in good hands.

Thankyou all for your kind words. I finally heared from my friends mum this morning. My friend had her appendix removed as it was very inflamed, but the pain was actually caused by an obstruction and fluid in the fallopian tubes. They have removed the obstruction and fluid and are doing further tests. She is on morphine for the pain and will hopefully start to feel better soon. I am hoping to visit her tomorrow. I just hope everything goes alright for her.

I heared about an hour ago from my friend's parents. Evidentally she was still in a lot of pain and had to have another operation todayto remove more fluid from her fallopian tubes. I am really worried now.I do not know much about this sort of problem and I did not like to ask her mum too many questions as she sounded quite stressed already. I have spoke to another friend who says this problem is not uncommon, but I have never heared of anything like it before. I really hope she is going to be alright and willget better soon. I am really missing her as I normally see hermost days, even if only for a few minutes. I feel so helpless and just wish I could help her.

Curly, try not to worry, your friend is in good hands and I'm sure she will be fine in a few days. I think what she has is called hydrosalpinx, that is fluid build up in the fallopian tubes. Don't know much about it but you could look it up if you want more info.

Anyway, take care, and I'm sure you'll be seeing your friend up and well very soon.

Thankyou Suze. I have just looked up hydrosapinx. It seems like she may have this. It does not really explain what the other obstruction inher tubes was, but maybe that was caused by all the fluid. Hopefully my friend will be better soon. It has just all come as a really big shock as she was fine on Friday. It has all happened so quickly.I wishI coped better with situations like this.
