*GRAPHIC POST, READ AT OWN DISCRETION*

Ewwww....I am so grossed out to even type this. Okay, I have posted before that I volunteer at a cat shelter. Normally, I really don't mind animal v*. I mean, if it's only kibble or bile or whatever, no problem. Hairballs don't even bother me too much.

But today I fed the cats in my room a new brand of catfood (it's all from donations so it really varies) and within 10 minutes they were ALL v*ing NASTILY. This stuff was...seafood scented *shivers*...and...really resembled people v*. Even worse were the noises they were making.

Soooo....guess who gets stuck in the room with 15 graphically vomiting cats? The emetophobe, of course! I seriously cannot imagine a non-emet who wouldn't have been fairly sickened by this, though.

I am so proud of how I dealt with it. I didn't run screaming from the room, or run to get an antacid to chew on, which is usually my panic reaction, I just breathed deeply and tried to zone the experience out as I was cleaning it up. I felt SO bad for the cats for inflicting this on them, but I really didn't know it made them sick.

Thankfully, there was also another person in the room with me. A very nice girl who is an animal medicator was there and I told her honestly "I am so sorry but I can really handle anything except vomit". She was so kind about helping me get it cleaned up. I probably would have freaked worse if I had to do it completely alone.

Ugggggh...though...I was so horrified. I am just glad I resisted gagging, etc. I felt soooo n* at the time.

Awwww you did such a good job! Poor cats! All I know is that when my sister's cat V*s the dog always comes over and eats it...EWWW I know that's gross but that's what happens and so my sister just needs to wipe up wherever he v*ed with a damp towel...LoL! You did a very good job, I can totally handle animal v* but I don't know if I could handle that many cats doing it at the same time! And the smell must have been AWEFUL! I hope the kitties feel better

Hi Carolyn... that sounds awful! I used to not be able to deal with animal v*, but having two cats, one of which eats too much and v's it back up, I learned to deal with it. I still can't stand to hear or see them v*, just clean it up afterward. You did great to stay in there and clean up, that is a big step and you should be proud of yourself. That type of stuff is disgusting for anyone, not just an emet.

Any idea what caused all of the cats to get sick from the food? One or two you could say it didn't agree with them, but all of them? Something must have been wrong with the food.

Yeah, I think the food went bad. The shelter manager said it was a "fish allergy" but I really doubt it with that many cats. I dumped the last can of the stuff that was in the cabinet without asking permission. I really don't care, if it saves someone else that experience then it's worth it.

I think you coped with that really well! I don't mind animal ick either but 15 cats all v*ing at the same time would not be nice! Poor little mites though, there must have been something really wrong with that food!
