I thought this too. I went 15 years without v* and was a child when it happened. I thought for sure I wouldn't even know when it was for real. You will know. It's really weird, but I just got this kind of "UP" feeling, like my body was contracting and pushing everything "UP".

You will know if it happens, but I hope it never does.

For me, it has been about 20 years. I did not know how it felt until I started taking birth control pills last month. Thenafter about 30 days of taking them, all of a sudden I wake up at 3:15 am hot and kindaunsettled. I did not know what was going on. I had what felt like a lump in my throat and I kep yawning though they were not real yawns. I did not know what was going on. Even though I did not v*. I did dry heave twice and it went away. So now if I wake up early in the morning I panic and think I will get sick. Then I feel sick because I am so nervous.

When your throat kinda closes off and your salivary glands go completely nuts (not just a little like we get from time to time, but your mouth is producing tons of saliva), then it's time to find a receptacle.

I think your body just..takes over i find, there's been times recently i've felt that n*, my mouth starts to water and i shake and go cold, i'll get up and normally pace, or go outside, last time i remember it was about 12.30am and i was sat in my mums room trying to watch tv, but i didn't want to hear sound or anything, i felt n* for about an hour and really thought i was going to v*, but after about 2 hours it went off and i feel asleep, woke up the next day and felt fine and put it down to being tired. But i think your body will know when its going to happen.

Since V* is a natural human reaction, your body will instictively know what to do. It's weird and like others have said, you can't really put your finger on it exactly. You will just start feeling it, and all of a sudden your brain will say "ok... it's time" and you'll know. But don't let everything we say here worry you. I hesitate to tell you actual symptoms because, as emets, we tend to create those symptoms and mistake our anxiety nausea for the real thing, so we freak out.

I hope that made sense, it's too early on Monday to be thinking....
