I think you're ok. "Best by" is usually just a guideline - had it said "Use by", things might be different. A protein bar won't be as perishable as meat or dairy, and it probably contains preservatives anyway.

Thanks guys, it's been at least 5 hours now (I can't remember the exact time I ate it) I'm hoping it's safe now. My b/f said he eats out of date chips etc all the time and they are just stale and w/ soemthing like a protien bar that's probably all.

Thanks again! I hate that I even worry about it. If she knew I ate it she wouldn't have said anything and I wouldn't have worried lol. I hate emet! Hmm i say that more and more lately. UGH!

Oh, I can totally relate, Simply!

But I think "Best By" usually means "tastes better or more effective before this date." If it makes you feel any better, a few weeks ago, I accidently ate an Ibuprofen that expired in February of 2006, and I was perfectly fine!

You'll be perfectly fine too, girl, don't worry (easier said than done!)! After I found out the expiration date on the Ibuprofen, I freaked out for a bit, but I was too crampy to care lol!Edited by: NCsmile6

Thanks, Neha! Yeah I'm OK today. I talked to one of my friends last night and she said when she was pregnant she ate an expired protien bar too and actually got concerned cuz she was pregnant and asked the doctor and he told her not to worry, that dry foods (protien, cereal, granola bars and can food) are generally good for about a year past the date.

    Thanks again you guys!
