In the middle of the night, well at about 3.45am i woke up and had this like horrible burning, dull ache in my stomach, im really sure it was hunger, its like i fel i wanted to gag i felt that hungry, but though, why am i hungry as the day before i had eaten quite a bit, yesterday was the most i had i think, this is what i ate -

breakfast - weetabix
Lunch - fish fingers and potato cube things
pudding - mint choc chip and cornish ice cream with some cake
snack - small chocolate bar
dinner - cereal
snack - small chocolate bar.

now i think thats quite bit, also as i only ate toast a while ago, but the pain was really bad and right now i have it, its almost as if i feel like gagging and my stomach feels really hungry, but i have no appetite if thta makes sense, another thing was my dad and brother came back as they were away for 5 days, and for 5 days, its just been me and my mum and its been ok, there was no stress, then as soon as they come back, my dad starts to argue again, and i think the stress of that makes my stomach feel a bit off, as i panic when theres an argument. Do you think its worth eating something? or even eating more if it still feels like im starving. Im not sure maybe my body needs the calories, thats why when you recover from an eating disorder they aim to make you eat 3000/4000 cals a day as my body dosn't store it as fat to start with, its helping my organs start to work again, sorry for the long post i will go now lol.

Well for a start well done with all the eating! But I don't think you can panic too much about this kind of thing, you're putting your body through A LOT right now. It's not used to digesting proper food and its under strain. I would suggest eating or drinking something slowly to see if that calms your stomach. And also maybe having something more substantial than cereal for dinner.

Hmmm...although it may seem like a lot to you, your disorder gives you a bit of a skewered idea of how much is "a lot" in terms of food. Also, you are eating a lot of empty calories that aren't providing your body with a lot of nutrition. It's not how much you are eating necessarily, but what you are eating.

You seem to be eating a lot of chocolate- which isn't a bad thing, but it seems as though you are eating that instead of other things which would be healthier for you and give you more energy. I also still don't see any fruits or vegetables, which is a major problem since you are supposed to have AT LEAST 5 servings a day. Some stuff, like oranges or pineapple, will probably be too acidic for your stomach at the moment. However, some apples, bananas, or melon would be great- nutritious and full of vitamins.

Great job on starting to eat again- you should be applauded for that. However, you don't want to get in the habit of eating food that won't give your body what you need. Have you spoken to a nutritionist at all? One may help to give you a diet of sorts to follow- things you should be eating at this stage and that wont be hard on your system.

Also- if you are hungry, DEFINITELY eat. If you feel hungry, that is your body saying "dude, give me food". The thing is, if you are hungry and eat something like chocolate, you will just get hungry again very soon, because it doesnt really give your body anything it can use in terms of nutrient. BUT- if you eat some carrots, an apple, or even some nuts- it will likely make you feel more full, and give you more energy.

Goodluck,

Hey, thanks for the reply. I agree with it fully lol. I did have a nutritionist, and they were meant to get back in touch with me and never did, so when i next go see my doctor, try and get hold of one, so they can give me a meal plan which i would find easier as i know its what someone who knows about food is telling me to eat. I know i really need to add in some fruit and veg, i've just got some banana's, so insted of having a chocolate bar for snack mid morning tomorrow, have the banana insted. Im also thinking about having those ensure drinks on top of it aswell, so get in the calories i need. I know they make you try and gain at least 2 pound week in an eating disorder unit, so i really have to try and do that. Thanks again for the reply and advice.
