I will not let it beat me

...Not this year. I've lost enough Christmases to this horrid phobia, but I'm determined NOT to let it ruin this one. I had a horrific panic attack in the car this evening, but this has only spurred...

Re: New job - advice please??

Thank you :) :) it's a project management role in finance and banking, so I'm pretty keen to make it work... I'm determined not to let my emet screw my chances up - you guys may have to put up with...

Re: What tattoos do you have? :)

I have a mini stickman on the inside of my forearm - he's called Stanley ;)
  4. Re: Have a bad stomach ache. Scared it's start of a SV*!

Jenny - BM = bowel movement.

I agree - try to relax; do something to take your mind off it...once the anxiety begins to subside, you should feel a whole lot better :)

    Re: Gah!

Yeah, the trouble is non emets may be able to sympathise but they can't empathise... The fundamental lack of understanding unfortunately means we DO feel isolated/stupid/ashamed because it's...

    Re: An emetophobe's worst nightmare,

I agree with Jenny - non emets always seem to be prone to exaggerating because they don't fear it the way we do. A lack of education on the subject also plays a part - don't forget we know the ins...

    Re: Please help :(

Take a deep breath and try to relax...chances are, your stomach's hurting because of the anxiety - and any n* will most certainly be a result of this. You'd definitely know if you were going to v* by...

    Re: Gah!

Hmm, that sounds like a pretty nasty experience there :( I'm pretty disgusted that the nurses were 'boasting' about having had noro, quite frankly...that's appalling, whether it was aimed at you or...

    UK Emets : Emet Conferences/Workshops

I've seen adverts for Emetophobia 'workshops' and conferences before, mainly in and around London - has anyone ever been to one, or would considering going? I was planning on attending something...

    Re: Eating / N*

I know what you mean - because most of us feel n* a lot of time due to anxiety, it's impossible to tell the difference between the natural digestive process and emet-related n*. As soon as I...

    Re: Do you avoid alcohol?

Strangely enough, I almost find comfort in hangovers. If I know I was drunk the previous night, it helps to blame the n* the following day on something specific rather than panicking that it could be...

Re: New job - advice please??

    Thanks for the replies :)
On the travel front, I've come to a compromise....I've found a car-pooling partner so I'll be able to commute by car without the hassle and cost of doing so alone. That...

Re: I'm scared I have Noro

How're you feeling now? It could well be FP, especially as you don't eat fast food usually... But that's not to say you're going to v* necessarily, it'll probably just be the n*...I think you'd know...

Re: I'm scared I have Noro

I think it's natural for us emets to be hypochondricas - after all, our fear is illness-related so we're bound to be! We're our own worst enemies on that front though - as you say, the more we panic,...
  22. Re: Feeling so alone. I don't want to live right now..

I don't think the subject/content was ridiculous at all; what we must remember is that everything is relative. We all struggle with this horrible phobia, on different levels, and I know EXACTLY what...
