Hey all,
As you can tell by my signature, I consider myself to be a recovered emetophobic. Anywho, I'm making the decision to not return to this site again.
While it can be very helpful,...
Well think of it this way:
Did any of you get the s*v from them? No, right? So I think it's fine. Spared you some anxiety.
It definitely can't hurt. I saw a therapist to help me get over the fear, so I'd recommend you do the same (particularly if they're free).
I think if you're ready to face it, and you get sick it's going to help. But if you aren't ready to take action (which is fine, it takes time to get to the right level) it will be worse.
I think mine is relatively straight forward, but my avatar is a picture I took while backpacking in Alaska.
Well... dogs can give you rabies, but not much else. Google "zoonotic diseases" if you're curious. Those are the diseases that can be transmitted to different species.
None of them make you v*...
That's technically OCD - magical thinking and superstition.
Instead just don't avoid it. If there's anything you eat/any situation you avoid because of you're scared you might get sick - don't avoid it.
If it's eating a certain type of food, going on a...
I really hate the way the news makes people believe that vaccines will cause illness.
They don't. Unless you get a nasal vaccine when your immune system is somehow compromised (already sick,...
Most food poisoning is normally 1-6 hours after eating, unless it's a special form like salmonella or ecoli (which wouldn't be in the leftovers).
Good for you! :)
I always get:
-burning stomach/intestines, cramps, pressure and when I'm hungry.
-The stuck in throat feeling when I'm anxious
If you haven't been eating a lot, you'll feel very full very...
Hey all,
I'm trying to come to this site as much as possible, but to be candid, I haven't been thinking about v* and emet nearly as much (which is a good thing).
I'm still going to my...
Eh, my mom is type O and she never, EVER gets ill. My brother is type B and he v* pretty much every year.
For what it's worth, O- can donate blood to anyone, but can only receive O-
This might be a stupid question, but is your son the one with emetophobia, and that's why he's keeping you up?
I had this when I was twelve and did the same thing your son did. Eventually my mom...
This might be a little graphic:
I remember one time when I v*, I was super worried that I would suffocate, and I had to cough to get everything up/out.
I've also heard stories of aspiration...
Eh.
For starters, I don't really care that the speech sounded rehearsed; everyone knew he wouldn't be speaking off the top of his head anyway. No one ever does and it's a terrible idea.
...
In my experience, doctors are always very understanding. Just tell him/her that you think you'd like to see a psychiastrist since you have a phobia.
No competent general practitioner is going to...
That is far and away the cutest newborn I've ever seen. Holy cow.
Thanks so much for your story! I'm only 18, and I hope to wait several more years before having a child, but I always love...
So I thought I should do a quick update.
So far so good. Today I at fried chicken from my local deli - it was being stores under a heat lamp, and who knows how long it was there for.
Perhaps...
I used to be really scared of other people v*, contagious or not. Like, I would run away.
Eventually I just grew to not really care (unless I thought they might have s*v*). The majority of...
If you know it's a myth then why are you worried?
I have gotten the vaccine, and I'm A-okay. If you get the nasal vaccine, you are technically putting the live form of the virus in you. But that...
I don't really want to say this, as it might be an unpopular opinion around here, but here goes: to get better, you have to do things that make you uncomfortable.
I view it like this: when I...
It can, that's one of the symptoms unlike regular flu.
Not everyone gets n*/v*, but if you're really worried just get the vaccine.
To be candid that's the exact advice my therapist gave me.
I've gone out and done all those things, and my emet is pretty much gone.
I know it sucks at first, but it really does work. Just...
Positive thoughts for the day:
1) My mom isn't a clean freak. In fact, she's not even close. She eats suspect food all the time, she washes her hands only when completely prudent (bathroom,...
