I know all im doing lately is moaning but oh my god how long do you have to wait to see a therapist? ive been waiting since december and im getting really depressed about it. The NHS is so crap sometimes. I saw a stomach specialist about feeling sick all the time but it was a waste of time, she said that you dont feel sick for no reason everyday, and i was like, exactly so please find out why i do feel sick!!! But she just fobbed me off and that was that.

I hate this phobia, im finding it very hard to cope and im finding it even harder to get out of the house, all i do is go to my parents house which is only 10mins away!

I feel like im on the slippery slope going nowhere fast or slow!

How do you beat this thing!!!!!!
I couldn\'t tell you why she felt that way... she felt it everyday and i couldn\'t help her... i just watched her make the same mistakes again...

Sarah, I'm sorry you're feeling so bad at the moment. Iwas lucky in that I didn't have to wait a long time for my therapy but mytherapist wasn't that great. It was so mean of that woman just to completely dismiss your nausea as nothing, I hate it when people do that! try not to worry, the NHS will come through eventually and it WILL get better. (((HUGS)))

I'm sorry things seem awful to you at the moment, but things will get better!!

I was put on the NHS waiting list for therapy in January. We called them again in amy and apparently it was a 12 - 18 MONTH WAITING LIST!!!!! I spoke to my doctor and she wrote a letter to move me up the waiting list as I was in a bad way, and then a few weeks later I was offered an appointment. I've only had 3 sessions, and although I cannot see effects yet, the serivice is certainly friendly etc etc.

I would ring up theNHS place you are on the waiting lsit for and see how long you will have to wait. If its a long time, like 12 months! Try talking to the person that refered you and see if they will help you move up the list. In the mean time, maybe you could get some counselling, It may not bea cure to this phobia, but it should help you a bit if you are in for a wait before therapy.

    Best of luck!

I hate it when doctor's fob you off just to get you out of their way. I think all doctors should have training in dealing with certain phobias so they can beunderstanding. Every Dr I've ever told has just looked at me strangely and said "emeto..what??!" I think Izzy is right - go to see a Dr about being moved up the list - it's amazing what complaining can do.

Last July I was put on a waiting list to have an operation to have my gall bladder removed and was told I'd have to wait a year but I went to the doctors this Feb to ask about being moved up the list and 3 weeks later I had the operation!

    Good Luck!

Sarah... i had to wait a long while to be seen by the NHS as well...

thats after 7 years of plucking up the courage for me to go to the doc's anyway!!

but it will all be worth it in the end... and in the meantime u can do therapy with urself...

you know, use the dysfunctional thoughts table.. or try and fathom out in ur head exactly WHY you fear vomiting e.t.c.

so that wen u do finally get to see the therapist, ur all prepared.

the main thing tho, is to relax at the moment. any therapy is pretty damn hard... so tke this time as a break !!
