With all the talk about pregnancies on here lately, I have a question about morning sickness for those moms who have had more than one pregnancy.
Which pregnancy was the worst for you as far as morning sickness goes?
I have two kids, and for me, the second was the worst. I thought this was odd. I had thought that the first was supposed to be the worst, ms-wise.

2nd for me too...nausea though, no v*. I put it down to the fact that you can't rest as much with the second and for me certainly, tiredness makes me feel worse.

I have 3 kids, and didn't have morning sickness with any of them. I think if I did, I wouldn't have had any more kids. I loved being pregnant!!!

Can I jump in and ask if it's true that morning sickness is worse when you're expecting a girl? I have two boys and had barely any n* both times. Was that because I was carrying boys or was I just lucky?

I was worse 2nd time with my son. I continually felt n*. With my daughter, the n* only lasted for the first 14 weeks.

Morning sickness was the worst for me during my second pregnancy, a
boy. It actually ended up making my emet alot worse....but it didn't
deter me from having another. I had a girl and I was pretty n* the
first few months during that pregnancy just like I was with my first
pregnancy, but neither compared to the second.

I don't know the answer to the girl/boy question, as I have only girls. The first pregnancy I had n* for a few weeks, and was fine after that, aside from heartburn later on. With the second, the n* lasted a couple of months, and again, heartburn in the 3rd trimester.

You know what's funny, after reading this post I would normally be scared to have another befause it seems like the majority of people say their 2nd pregnancy was the worst for n*, but I want another one so bad right now I am actually feeling kind of excited to see what my answer would be. That just seems crazy to me! Either my emet is getting better, or I just really want to have anotherbaby.

I had no nausea with my first, but the second one I was nauseous the whole time, I swear. Interesting that emets are only nauseous, though. They can control vomiting so well - and morning sickness vomiting is obviously "controllable". I think the boy/girl thing is just an old wives' tale. I know lots of women sicker than hell with boys!

I don't have kids but my best friend has 2 girls. W/ the first one she was sick to the point of hospitalization for rehydration (she also ended up needing her gallbladder out so that could have been part of it) the second she had a little but not near as bad as the first. I think it's just a matter of body chemistry at the time ... they say each is different.

Edit: I should also mention she gets sick quite easily ... don't want to freak anyone out lol.Edited by: SimplyMe

I haven't had any children, but as far as I know there's no physiological difference between being pregnant with a girl and being pregnant with a boy. The different chemical processes which make a boy verses a girl happen in the baby, not the mother.

I also asked my mom's input on this. She said when she was pregnant with me she got minimal morning sickness, usually only while cooking dinner, and when she was pregnant with my brother she didn't feel sick at all but was tired all the time.

Hmm, well, my first was a girl, and I had NO nausea. My second was a boy and I felt sick for the first four months. My third was a girl, and once again, I felt sick for the first four months. So, I too think that the boy/girl thing is just an old wives tale. For me personally though, the reflux that kicked in during my sixth month of pregnancy with my youngest daughter, was WAAAAAAYY worse that any morning sickness I had. YUCK!!!!

LOL- my mom was sosick when she was pregnant with me that when she went on a business trip (that she didn't want to go to in the first place), they had to get her a hotel room on the ground floor because she literally couldn't ride an elevator without vomitting. This lasted almost the entire pregnancy-until a few weeks before I was born. Of course, the trade off was that she had the easiest labour ever- she didn't even know that she was in labour until my grandmother said that what she was feeling wasn't constipation, lol.

I heard that she wasn't sick at all with my youngerbrother- but then recently, she told me that she did have some morning sickness, but it wasn't as bad as with me.

KNowing how sensitive my stomach is, and how my mom and I have similar systems......I'm guessing that I will likely be huggin' the porcelain for at least a few months when Chris and I decide to have kids. Ugh.

Well I can't help that much as I'm only expectng my first - I'm 24 weeks pregnant and its a boy, but the nausea was really bad. My mum wonders if a lot of it was in "my mind" as I am very good as self-fulfilling prophecies -being so afraid of feeling n* thatI DO feel n*. I know some women get n* when pregnant so I maybe I somehow convinced myself to be n*. And obviously being a really bad emetophobe I couldn't just suck a "Preggy Pop" or eat some ginger biscuits and get on with my day, I wouldn't go out of the house andI'd have to spend the day in bed swallowing (safe) stomach pills!! So I didn't handle it as well as the average woman would.

To be honest though Idon't think I imagined itbecause it was so bad and lasted for so long (14 weeks) - I had to stop work because I just can't function when I'm n*. As with all the other emets on here I haven't v* yet though, despite how bad I feel just somehow manage to get through without v*.

But I can testify that I'm having a boy and have felt really n*. So the "boys don't make you so s*" thing hasn't applied with me. Don't know if a girl would have been worse!

My mum had two children - a girl first (me) and a boy (my brother) second and claims she wasn't the slightest bitn* with either of us. She would!!! Typical of my mum to get through it with no problems. She did have bad heartburn later on with both of us though. Worse with me apparently, she said even drinking water would kick it off.

My music teacher also had a girl first and a boy second and she had only a tiny bit of n* with her daughter but a lot with her son. So she was worse with a boy and on her second.

My Classical Indian dance teacher had a boy first and a girl second. She said she had some n* wth her son but a lot of n*/v* all the way through with her daughter. So she was worst with a girl on her second.

Perhaps second time mums notice it more because they are expecting it or thinking about the pregnancy more - first time mums are still really into working, socialising, their careers etc and not really expecting it and maybe don't notice it as much. It didn't work this way for me but I'm a bad emetophobe so I guess I should have known the slightest bit of n* would floor me. I'm nervous about having a second and a girl in case its worse - I mean I've got through so far without v* despite all the n* but if I had a girl next time would that make me v*???

Actually my biggest terror now is labour and v* then.
