so, my coworker just called in saying that she would not be in today because she has food poisoning? I asked if she was sure it was not some sort of virus and she said she did not think so because she had gone out to dinner with her mother and father who also had gotten sick at pretty much the exact same time last night...I am still kinda worried that it may be a virus and she just does not know it...or would a virus not hit all three people at the same time like that? should I be worried that when she returns to work tomorrow she may be contagious? we share the same office space!

I would think that you are fine, if she thinks that its food poisoning then it probably is, especially if her whole family got sick after eating out. Even if it was an sv, she wasn't showing symptoms at work, so it couldn't be transferred through stuff that she previously touched. If you want to be extra sure, just practice good hygiene, wash your hands, etc. you should be fine!

    good luck

thanks for the reassurance...i agree, no stomach virus would strike all at once like that and it is just too much of a coincidence that they all three went to dinner together and all three had the same thing, then became ill. thats one of the many reasons I am vegetarian

I will probably still be a little anxious when she returns to work but hopefully everything will be ok.

I think that sounds like fp. If all three of them went to eat at the same place, and all three got sick at the same time. I'm sure you will be fine.

I am with Daffodil on this one...Really sounds a lot like food poisoning to me...the sick at the same time thing tips it off....I am sure that you will be fine, I know that it is scarey though!!
We have got to be able to laugh at ourselves about this!!

I would agree with everyone else.. fp is what it sounds like to me too.. since they all got sick around the same time..

oh and btw to help you feel a lil better and not say this girl did this too buuuttt.. fp is the most common thing that people call in sick to work for when really they were out too late or had too much to drink.. or just dont wanna come in. or so i have found in my experiences.. i am not saying everyone that says has fp is lying.. just seen this alot and later found out.. they were playing hookie.. hmmph. Wish i could play hookie for fun ..

I agree with Kristin - a lot of the time people use fp as the excuse for a scive from work (weird, I cant work out how to spell skive? - doesnt look right either way!!). But, in my experience and I have been at work for over 20 years it is a very common excuse! and I am not saying that everyone does it but it is one of the best excuses!

I have never used it - mine is usually a migraine!
