Oh my goodness, I should have known better - but I did it anyway. I woke up in the middle of the night extremely thirsty. I went to bed thirsty too. I made myself some koolaid with ice, gulped it down, and knew within about 5 minutes that it was going to be a miracle from God if it stayed in my stomach. Blegh... talk about painful and digusting?!!? I spent a good 20-25 minutes painfully waiting for my stomach to naturally cycle itself through so I could stopfighting the urge to V*. I burped like a crazy manicic the whole time too! The urge has now passed, I am thoroughly exhausted, and still EXTREMELY thirsty... but now I will have to wait until I have enough energy to try and drink something, preferably at room temperature and slowly.

Lesson Learned: Ice cold liquids + mucousy stomach + drinking fast = LIVING NIGHTMARE!!!

Sip, don't gulp, no matter how thirsty you are --- especially if the fluid isn't at room temperature.
I\'m always a shade of purple...

Yeah, when I was in the army they used to yell at us in boot camp not to gulp fast after a hard run. Some didn't listen and they v*.

Yea then you hear it sloshing in your stomach. That is the worst. Sorry if I grossed anyone out just now.

I guess this sensitivity to liquid must vary from person to person. I am training to run a half marathon, and I gulp the heck out of cold water both during and right after a long run. Doesn't bother me one bit.

    Hey hun

I cant do this even when i am thirsty and i have been awake.. i have a hiatal hernia which means the opening from the stomach to esaphagus doesnt close all the time so anytime i even sip a ful glass i always feel the liquid up in my throat like it wants to come out and its awful.. i have to sit up for about 25 mins until it subsides.. its totally sucks and it extremely hard to drink water and stay hydrated infact EVERYtime i go to the doctor they tell me i am dehydrated. *shrugs* but what can i do..
