ew that is gross. I would have no idea about how contagious that kind of thing is but I would imagine that the shower is clean enough not for you to catch it from there, and the rest of the time I would just ask your bf to wear socks. Clean cotton ones ideally otherwise the infection would probably get worse. Again I'm kind of bluffing here.

there is treatment for athlete's foot, which is a fungus...in the form of cremes and powders that are quite effective. But the fungus can indeed live on towels and in showers, so I'd wash out the shower before using it and wear the socks yourself!

Yeah as silly as this sounds until it goes away for him you may want to wear like flip flops in the bathroom just so you don't get it. Even if you did though its very easily treatable.

My recommendation would be to clean your shower, and do like people in dormatories do and get a cheap-o pair of flip-flops which you can wear in the shower until the infection clears up for him.

Also, there's something else with I believe really helps prevent fungal infections like that. Fungi like that need warm, moist environments to grow, so sweaty feet tend to be ideal (also why you pick it up in the shower, because that's also wet). However, if at home you take off your shoes, socks and just go barefoot while you're inside, your feet don't stay as sweaty as they do if you keep them covered and it's much harder for an athlete's foot infection to take hold.

    Hello:

My husband gets that quite often. At first, I was a little freaked out b/c I was afraid that I would get it. He works as a personal trainer in a gym, but doesn't shower there. I'm thinking he gets his from the beach somehow. Anyhow, I never caught it from him. There are a lot of creams out there that can help. Don't be grossed out. It happens and it will go away. Hope you are enjoying your weekend.
