Antibiotics kill all the good bacteria in your bowel.... so that probably wouldn't be good for you and people who suffer with emets. You can try a probiotic call Culterlle, it suppose to help people with IBS and it replenishes the good bacteria in your intestines to help fight off infection!! So, I would ask your doctor if you can take that!!! I have IBS-D and my son's GI specialist that he saw earlier this year said this is a great suppliment to take!

ehh I don't like the sound of it. I don't think IBS should ever be treated w/ meds unless it's really extreme.

I take caltrate myself - ever since then I've had 90% problem free days, whereas before EVERY day was a problem day.

its amazing stuff - acts as a binding agent on your stools - sorry, haha TMI.

Well, i honestly don't think they would be making an antibiotic that would harm you if it's specifically made for ibs....you don't have to take it, i was just posting for those who were interested in something new that might help...i know with me, as a 20 yr sufferer with extreme ibs/d....i know i am willing to try anything at this point to get rid of it...and hey, if it doesn't work, at least i will have tried something. I can understand the doubts...afterall there's nothing out there so far that is a cure, but i do think it's worth a shot.
