My MIL watched my older two kids on Monday for about 1.5 hours while I took my youngest to the dr. My baby had gotten sick (see http://www.emetophobia.org/forum/for...sp?TID=11683&a mp;PN=2http://www.emetophobia.org/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID= 11683&PN=2 for that explanation).

The oldest two started V* the next day, Tuesday.

So tonight, my MIL calls me and tells me that the kids made her sick (she didn't say it rudely lol, just that she thinks she caught the bug from them).

She hasn't seen them in 4 days, since Monday. Would it be possible for them to have given it to her? Especially since they didn't get sick until the next day?

Do you think my dh is safe? All the kids have been over it since Wednesday morning and I had it Wednesday and was over it by THursday but still felt a little "off" until today. How long do you think it will be until my dh is safe? And we're supposed to go over to my mom's on Sunday. Do you think it'll be safe for her?

Once a person "ingests" the virus, they are considered contagious, as it is shed in the feces before you even show symptoms. So, it is possible she caught it from your kids. I think usually 24 hours after you stop showing symptoms, you are pretty much safe.

I dont think she would have gotten sick from the kids...because even if
she did ingest some sv* from their poop...she would ahve gotten sick
12-24 hours...thats when it happens. And they can stay contagious long
after they have no symptoms...because it still sheds in their poop. I
think in the Alvin post it said a week.
    I love Sam

If your kids started vomiting on Tuesday, then they were incubating the virus on Monday when your MIL looked after them. So yes, she could have caught it from them. That's the problem with these darn viruses - they're so contageous esp. with kids who put their germy hands all over everything in the house.

Unfortunately, your daughter may still get sick. But since you're probably more hygenic in your house, it's possible she won't get it at all! (I know it's frustrating that it's not more predictable)
