Well, I just realized this post has been around for a LONG time and I've not taken the time to respond yet!!! I need to get on that... right now

Hi! My name is Rachel, I'm 21 years old, will be 22 on October 27th. I'm from Lexington, Kentucky *USA* where I've lived my entire life. I'm a senior at the University of Kentucky where I'm currently working on getting a degree in Early Childhood Education. I'm also working at a department store as a customer service associate. I hope to one day become a child life specialist at a hospital, preferably St. Judes, UK Children's Hospital, or DUKE med. center. I love children and a child life specialist deals mainlywith children who have illnesses (IE; cancer, faconi anemia, etc..) which cause them to spend long periods of time in a hospital setting, making sure they stay psychologically okay.

I love reading, writing, quotes, movies, music (especially country), chilling with my friends, and of course... getting to know all of you!

    Hello!

My name is Cristie. I am from a very small town in Maryland. I have been an emet since I was 9 years old. No one has ever understood my phobia. I have been hospitalized twice at 9 and 15. Given medication for tramatic stress, nothing has worked. I have not been diagnosed by a professional. Personally, I am sick of them. I do many things that are atypical for an emet. I am not asparticular about what I eat or how much. Enough about that.

I am 23. I have one daughter who will be 2 in January. I have a wonderful fiance who I have been with for 6 years. I have an A.A. in General Criminal Justice and an A.A. in General Studies. I am working on an A.S. in Criminal Justice. I am currently an Administrative Assistant for a mortgage company. I can be contacted anytime at [email protected].

    Hi everyone!

I am Jessica and I am 30 years old. I live in Bridgewater, NJ - USA. Some of you may remember me as jgirl 23 - forgot my username and had to create the newer version - jgirl236.

I have been an emet for almost 15 years now and working on doing what I can to rid myself of this horrible fear. I am optimistic that I can beat this thing!

I live with my boyfriend of 2+ years (he is so awesome and supportive of me) and we have the cutest puppy (part American Eskimo/part Basenji)named Hera. She is so great and just the most adorable thing alive. I work for a medical supply company doing training and development and love every minute of it. I look forward to doing more travel (I am going to Dublin, Ireland in October) and someday marrying the man I love.

    Hi Everyone:

My name is Melanie, and I'm not new here. I was having trouble logging in for the longest time. I am 28 years old. I will be 29 on October 10th. I just got married on June 12, 2004, of this year to Bryan. We have been together for over three years now. I have had emet since I was about 9 years old. I don't know what caused it. It just happened all of a sudden. I live a pretty much normal life. I'm a family law paralegal and work in a law office. Hopefully I'll be quitting soon b/c we plan on moving to Sarasota, FL despite the hurricanes. We currently live in boring Indiana. Not looking forward to the cold winter. We've been thinking about moving there for the longest time.

I enjoy reading, TV, camping, traveling, laying on a beach somewhere, eating out, seeing movies, going to concerts, etc. We have two cats and a parrot. I don't know what else to say, but hope to talk to some of you soon.

My name is Karen - and I'm dating one of the mods

I am 21, do not suffer from emet, but do have other anxiety disorders, mainly OCD, which is closely linked to emet. I live in the south west of england, and work for an amusements company. Mainly sitting on my butt in front ofa computer singing along to the radio. As I said, I am currently in a comitted relationship with Louise *hippychick* - we have been dating officially for nearly 4 months, but have known each other for nearly a year. I'm so in love it's mad! Anyhow, my hobbies include playing the clarinet and piano - although I haven't been able to play them for quite some time due to OCD issues. I also love to watch tennis, and listen to music. Recently saw LeAnn Rimes in concert (AMAZING) and am off to see Sarah McLachlan next month.

I have the biggest crush on Mariska Hargitay!

    Take care,

    Love,
    Karen.

    Awsome thread.
I am a married, 25 year old, stay at home mom from Canada. I havea beautiful 20 month old boy who is the light of my life. I was a pharmacy technician till I realized that I wanted to be a mom and that I wanted to stay at home.
At least I wanted to stay at home for my son and not for my emet for once.
I have been an emet since I was a toddler and I think I finally have a grasp on it. I have been eating out lately and even been the theater a time or two.
My husband is very supportive and admits he doesn't understand what I am going through but he is reassuring when I need him to be and so loving that that is all I need to get me through.
I love chocolate, ethnic foods, cooking, baking, reading, cross stitching, word puzzles, watercolour painting, drawing, walks and hikes, I love the water and use to be a synchronized swimmer Gold medal in western Canada.
I love animals and use to have quite a few, but we are not allowed pets in our place.
I grew up in a small town and when we moved to the city I was overwhelmed and my emet was full blown and I developed many other problems as well. I also had a very bad relationship which threw me into a depression that didn't help.
Anyways there is a lot more to me I am sure but I would have to write a book.
Thanks all to those that read this thread and thanks for making the thread as well it is great to learn so much about you all.

Hi, I'm Mary and i am 28 years old. I have a great husband, Corey, who is so supportive and a beautiful daughter, Hailey, who is 4 and just starting preschool.

My hobbies are reading, shopping, love to watch movies and snuggle with my honey. I live Saint Amant, Louisiana about 60 miles away from New Orleans and the Mardi Gras capital. I have beenan emet since about 8 years old. And just recently found out that my aunt is an emet justlike me. Or pretty close to one. She can deal with it but she gets all nervous and panicky like I do. I envy her for being able to deal with it because if I could deal with it and keep it to myself like she does, maybe I could take care of my family when they are sick. She is so quiet about how she feels, I never knew she felt the same way as me. Anyway, I love this thread and am so grateful I found it.

    Hello,

I am Carly. I graduated from CSUSM last year with a degree in Liberal Studies and a teaching credential. I am currently a substitute teacher in my local school district and I am sitting in a classroom right now as I type this.

I live in Southern California and I have lived here all of my life. I am 25 years old and recently married to Matt. We have 5 feline children and we both devote the majority of our time to our kitties.

I am actively looking for a full time teaching position and hopefully to have some human children as well.

Hi I am Brooke, and I am 27, I live inHawaii, with my two boys, and my husband. I work in the local school cafeteria. I have suffered from this phobia since I was a little girl, when one of my younger brother's was a very sick child. I have not gotten sick myself since then. It is hard raising two small sons, but, my husband is very supportive of me. He is a police officer. Kahia wants us to take the boys, maybe to Disney, but, I don't know if I can. I am trying to find some help, so maybe I could go. Thanks foryou for being here.

That would be great mary. I would love that kinda help too. But l was meaning help with the phobia. So I can travel. I have never been to anywhere but the islands.I am so tired of being stuck here. And I have seen so many different places to visit that seem so different, that I would like to go see. I would love to visit California and I would really like to go to the snow. The ocean in nice, but, it gets so boring after being here so long of a time. I feel so stuck. I didnt mind to fly to Oahu. But I am so scared to fly like 6 or more hours on a plane. If someone got sick on the plane and I was stuck there. And if my boys got sick, I dont know what I would do then. It is hard enough working in the schools when sometimes the kids get sick. So far I havent had to see anyone get sick. Brooke

    this is a good idea!

my names katie im 19 and from liverpool.
i do admin work in a travel agents and ive been there for about 18 months since i left college.
ive had this phobia for about 8 years since i started high school. i had a bad time at school and i think its made the phobia a lot worse because i was really shy and had no confidence and that.

ive been quite lucky because i can talk to my family about it all but they cant completely understand what its like. i joined this board ages ago but never came on for ages so i had to register again - anyway ages ago a lad off this board emailed me and its been brilliant being able to talk to someone about the phobia who knows exactly what its like and that.

    love katie x

I'm single *unfortunately* and living with my parents until my career is far enough that I can afford to move out. Currently I am a dental assistant, but someday I'd love to be doing something in graphic design! Not that it's much of a possablility, lmao, but I'd love to do it... I guess my dream would be to take part in the creation of those computer animated movies! lol Like the Pixar movies. ^^
Anyway, I'm so glad to be here!

Hello...I am Charlotte, and I am 33 years old. I have 5 kids, and I just got remarried in August of this year. I live in Omaha, NE and I am about to graduate from college next month, with my degree in Criminal Justice/Forensic Science. I am starting college at Bellevue University (accellerated program)this February to get my Bachelors degree. I love shopping, surfing the net, music, reading, and true crime stories. I have been an emet for as long as I can remember, and I hate it. I struggle with it from time to time mainly when my kids get sick. (and me too..lol) Nice reading about all of you! I never realized how many people were a part of this emet site. Wow....I don't feel so alone!

Hi my name is Heth I am VERY new here and happy to have found this board. I see there are soooo many members here and that it is a very active board at that,I was shocked! I am glad I found you guys! I have struggled with emet since FOREVER it seems but I think I can pinpoint that it started when I was around 5/6 years old as my grandmother ALWAYS got carsick and quite a few people in my immediate family suffer from motion sickness(including my mom), so I've had to deal with alot of nauseous people in my life and my emet grew from ther. It affects my everyday life drastically and has gotten worse the last couple years...I desperately need support...

Anyhoo who am I you ask?????What do you do/want to do for a living? Currently, I work in the PR/Marketing department as a PR assistant/coordinator for an adult company. I have been working in the adult biz for close to 5 years and although I like what I do,I amlooking to move onto a more "normal" job. I just completed wedding consultant courses and hope tolaunch a wedding/event planning business in the spring.

How old are you? I am 32 (I turn 33 in Dec) and my DH (dear husband)will be turning29 in two weeks. We have two children-Cylle (12 years) and Seth (8 months).

What hobbies/likes/interests do you have? We love to travel-one of our favorite vacation spots being Vegas and San Deigo, Ca. I also enjoy writing, reading and anything outdoorsy.

Whereabouts are you from? Mylittle family currentlylives in California been here most of my life but was born in Virginia and spent some time living in VA, NC, SC, Colorado, AZ as a child.
