    Sooooooo....

Watched this *brilliant* film last night, and I actually realized
something (besides that no matter how bad the scary movie, it still
makes me not sleep). About halfway through the film, when the
women are in those horribly small, collapsing caves - with little bat
people looking at them, that i'd actually rather v* than go through
five minutes of anything in that (or any other) cave.

It's good to realize that you have limits. Maybe I'm not as bad as I
    thought.

(P.S. there is a brief v* scene at the end, in case any of you decide
    to watch it.)

I love that movie! I actually went caving about 3 weeks after watching it. It made the experience, umm, interesting to say the least.

I am also highly clautrophobic, so I was watching it and had to get up and catch my breath while walking around pacing. It was pretty good I thought. It was just difficult to watch due to my claustrophobia.

Meh. I'll give you that the movie was scary, and the claustrophobic
nature of it added to that....but there wasn't much beyond the
claustrophobia. For me, if I were to ever do cave-exploring, I'd want to
SEE the caves. I felt it was simply too dark in the move and you
couldn't see a thing. Half the time I couldn't tell who was who. It felt
lazy, not necessary to the movie. Same with the ending. I was just
happy to see that there is a limit to my emet

How bad is the v* scene at the end? Is it graphic?

I didn't find it much worse than baby spit up. Frankly, I expected more
of v* with how graphic the rest of the film was in parts.

What horror movies do you guys like besides this one? My favorite,
though it made me soooo uncomfortable, was Haute Tension.

Let me just say this about the movie:

First of all I'm sure there are NO CAVES in North America that haven't been explored. The chances of finding one that no one has ever been in is slim to none.

    **SPOILERS**

Secondly, wasn't it overly nasty when the girl broke her leg and the bone was all sticking out? That made me cringe, oh yeah and the claustraphobic aspect of it made me hyperventilate.

Thirdly, if you have seen the movie "The Cave" which came out a few years BEFORE the Descent, then you've basically seen this movie. Although I don't remember The Cave being that gory.

All in all, it was a sucky movie.

I thought The Descent was miles better than The Cave.

I just watched Saw the other night - that's a cracking movie! One of my favourite recent horror movies is Wolf Creek.

I haven't heard of Haute Tension - is that a new film?

Haute Tension/High Tension is a French horror film that's a few years old. I don't remember TONS about it (I think I'll claim PTSD on this one), but I do recall it not only being gory, but having 'high tension'. Something for everyone. The plot wasn't as horrible as most horror movies either, despite some holes.

High Tension...That movie blew my mind. I had not seen such an excellent horror movie in a long time, and I watch pretty much every horror movie I come across(my gf works at Blockbuster, so I get all of 'em free~sweet!). I loved how there was minimal dialogue. This movie proved you don't need words to scare the s%!t outta you.

I also really enjoyed the remake of The Omen. Normally, I prefer the originals~ classic, grainy perfection, but that one was good. Another good remake is Black Christmas in all of it's campy goodness. All of the Saw movies are brilliant. But by far the best...Hostel. I can watch that one over and over and always love the psychotic thoughts that swirl around my imagination.

I came of age watching 80's B-Horror like Slumber Party Massacre, Silent Night Deadly Night, Sleepaway Camp and Chopping Mall. I still love them to this day. Of course I can't leave out Friday the 13th, Hellraiser and Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Good stuff.

You guys really liked High Tension? That movie was bad! I mean to each his own but I didn't think it was all that good. A lot of it confused the hell out of me. I even discussed it with my friend and we didn't get it.

As for Wolf Creek I saw that two years ago on Christmas. That movie was very slow, I thought it took too long to get to the point, and it was based on a true story but I mean it wasn't scary cause it happened in Australia and honestly I never plan on visiting there anyway LoL.

Saw was a GREAT movie, so was Saw II and Saw III, they are making a Saw IV which comes out this year, probably around Halloween. There are supposed to be six Saw movies, I don't know where I heard that but it's looking like there actually will be 6 and I will see all of them.

Hostel was also a good movie, I saw it 4 times in the theater. My sister was in England when she saw Hostel, a few weeks later she went back packing across Europe and decided not to go to Slavokia because of the movie....LoL I don't blame her. Hostel 2 comes out this year too.

    Okay I'll shut up now.
