I've been worrying about this for quite a long time. Sorry if this has
been asked before and please be so kind and answer if you have any idea
    about it.

Can dogs or other animals get sv* and if they do, can they spread it to
human beings if they leave poops everywhere or v*? I mean let's imagine
that a dog left his poops somewhere and I walked into them without
noticing. I came home and I walked in my house with those shoes before
I took them off for a bit. Of course I don't lick the floor, but if I
drop something, I pick it up, then I touch things and eat... Is there
any chance I could get a sv*?

Any other deseases or someting that could make me v* from dogs or other animals?

    Thanks.

I've heardthat humans cannot catch any sort of virus from animals.

Not even if you have a contact with their v* or poops?

Um, no that's not exactly accurate. Humans can catch viruses from animals. Rabies and avian influenza being great examples.

However, I don't think you can catch viral gastroenteritis (aka: sv) from animals. You might if you touch their v* or poop, and put your hands in your mouth without washing them. But just wash your hands then you'll be okay. I cleaned up, literally, pounds of dog crap when I worked at a vet's office....and sometimes from really sick animals if you catch my drift . I never got sick, so you don't have to be scared of your dogs or cats or w/e.

What you described about accidentally tracking in something nasty and then dropping something and eating without knowing there was something gross on it. Unless you literally put your hand in a pile of...whatever, and then ate without washing, that's extremely improbable. I swear to you, you should be much</span> more scared of getting a sv from another person than from your pets. The only exception being if you own any kind of reptile, because reptiles can harbor salmonella on their skin. That doesn't mean you should get rid of them if you have any because you'll get sick for sure, it just means that you need to be careful when handling them and wash your hands immediately afterward. But definetly don't let emet keep you from having a pet if you want one. hehe, can't you tell I'm an animal lover?

Okay we used to have a dog who would get sick like all the time. One night my dad got really sick and tired of taking her outside over and over so they locked her in their room and said whatever damage she did, at least it would be contained to their bedroom. Well she pooped EVERYWHERE, seriously, you could smell it downstairs. Anyway my mom and dad spent a good 4 hours cleaning their new carpet, no stains there to this day, but that's not the point. They never got sick from it and trust me, they were getting down and dirty with the poopy.

Also *Warning sort of gross* My parents new dog has sneezed in my face countless times and I've never gotten anything from him. Also he eats his own vomit so you really don't have to clean up after him ROFL!!

You can't catch anything from a dog, at this point in history, except rabies or potentially parasites (worms). Getting your dog a rabies shot and deworming him will do the trick. You should always be hygenic with handwashing when cleaning up any sort of poop, or even dirt.

Scientists are always monitoring illnesses that jump from humans to animals, and you'll see it on the news if anything changes. Apparently AIDS began with monkey-to-human transmission.

But so far, so good with the dog!
