Hi..

I have had numerous problems with my stomach the last couple of months,( for example...gassy, NAUSEA,cramps, not being able to "go" for up to a week, the big d*, taking 2! correctol laxatives and having NO effect whatsoever, bad acid reflux..ect.ect) and so im going to the doc next week to figure out whats up.

My question: Anyone ever had stomach tests done, like upper GI or lower GI or where you had to drink that stuff or whatever? I wanna know what to expect. Did anything make you sick or did that have to do anything gross? Let me know!!
Danielle =)

Uhg. Sorry you are having such a rough go of it. Both my aunt and dad have had to get those things done. They said "that stuff" tasted really nasty and was tought to swallow but they didn't vomit. My aunt's an emet and she handled it without a problem. Good luck!

I had the upper GI test when I was young (about 10) and had to drink
that white drink. I don't remember it tasting that bad at all. However,
these days, at least where I am from, they don't bother with those
types of tests since the don't show the doctors everything they would
like to see. I have bad acid reflux and 2 times I had to have the
endoscopy. The test where they stick the camera down your throat and
into your stomach. I am not going to share my experience as I was
pregnant the last time and wasn't able to receive all the drugs you
should get before the test. I know several other people who had it done
and none of them remembers a thing about it. They were pretty much
"out" through the whole thing.

i've also had the upper gi thing when i was younger. it never made me sick
but it sure was hard to hold down. :[ the only thing that kept me going was
what the doctor said "if you let it come back up, we have to do this all over
again" haha. so i said OK NO PROBLEM!!!!

they also gave me some kind of liquid crystal water stuff that made my
stomach swell, i guess so they could get a better look. it made me burp
though. :P as a matter of fact, after i left, i spent the rest of the day burping
and ohhhh how good it felt.

you'll do fine im sure!!! it was a breeze.Edited by: aprilcats

i had an upper gi done about 4-5 years ago. they gave me little crystals to swallow and then a thick white liquid, about the consistency of glue. it wasn't the most pleasant. they tell you that you can't burp or anything but it makes you feel like you need too....but i survived Edited by: aksommers
