Just curious...how many people have you actually seen v*? And did you flip out? I, personally, have seen 3 people throw up other than me....one wheni was 12, one when i was 17, and one when i was 18. Now I'm 20. I can say that I didn't flip too bad with the first, kinda bad with the second, and horrifyingly bad with the third. The guy from when I was 18 gave me nightmares and made me have flashbacks for YEARS...but yeah, your experiences with this?

I don't think I have seen someone throw up since elementary school in
front of the whole class. That was probably the last time.

Lets see, once in Kindergarten, once in second grade, once in third....once in highschool when I saw a lady pulled over on the side of the road doing it. A whole bunch of times in movies, but I doubt that counts LoL. After third grade (Other then the incident with the lady on the side of the road) I haven't seen someone vomit in real life. I've seen the after math, but never seen it happen. It doesn't bother me that much any more, seeing as how I see it on ER all the time and it's pretty realistic. And I see it in horror movies constantly. I'm not saying that you will get over it if you watch it in horror movies, because at first it used to bother me a HELL of a lot on TV and in movies, but I didn't want to stop seeing good movies beecause of it so I became desensitized. Now if I actually throw up then I freak out, but it's a little different now if someone else does it.

Well, I've seen more than my share over the years---unfortunately. In the last few years, I've seen at least 15 or so people v*ing on my flights, my son a few times, a girl who v*ed on me at the fair, and I saw someone doing IT at the gas station last week. For some reason it doesn't seem to bother me that much anymore, besides the initial "grossness".

I also seemed to be a magnet for it while I was in school. Not to mention I had a friend Katie who seemed to be ill every other month or so and could never make it to the bathroom---even in 8th grade!!

I've seen a lot of other people v* but I only freak out because I'm afraid I'll catch whatever they have. If I know I can't catch anything I don't freak out at all.

My ex-MIL had breast cancer -- she would LITERALLY carry a "bucket" with here everywhere she went (including the dinner table). I think this and the fact that my father v* almost every night during dinner (and at least once a week in the middle of the night) contributed to my phobia. Never SAW my dad v* but did see it in the yard if he didn't make it to the house.

Also was v* on by a girl whose house I slept over at when I was around 12 and recently saw a man at the local YMCA v* out his car door -- took everything in me to go in and go my workout routine!

On the bright side daughter was sick two nights in a row last week and I was COMPLETELY FINE WITH IT!!! No anxiety, no n*, no d* -- cleaned out her bucket, took her a coke and a straw...

Things are looking up (I hope)...

Ha! Just today. My hubby got tanked last night (and I knew he was going to v* sometime in the future - I could tell by the way he walked and by the way he slept. At 7:30 he started to gag and I dove under the covers. Then, at noon he insisted on getting something to eat - that it would make him feel better - and after shoving half a thickburger down his throat 30 seconds later he said he was gonna have to pull over. We were at a RED light and he REFUSED to get out of the car - he wanted to make the right turn first!!! So of course he didn't make it and now the driver's side is trashed. When he did it I had to put my fingers in my ears and sing to myself but when he was done (he yelled at me first, "I REALLY NEED YOUR HELP! STOP IT!") I felt much better and even helped clean. Really it's the act itself that bothers me, whether it's me or someone else.

Now on to the reason I'm visiting - to post a topic about how to clean my poor car.

ugh I just had a panick attack reading some of these posts LOL especially about the tanked hubby. I'da been pissed. I hate it when my husband drinks and he knows if he goes out and does it that one of us is sleeping on the couch and that if he gets sick from it he won't be seeing me for a long while LOL

I just was just at a gas station last night...and yeah...I saw a little boy, maybe about 3 or 4 years old, v* right outside the door! Luckily there was another door on the other side of the gas station I could go into, because I had a small panic attack! It wasnt because he was actually v*ing, it was because I have a 9 month old son, and I know one day I'm gonna have to go through that! thats what freaked me out! lol

Since I've had kids, I see it alot unfortunately. But before that, I didn't see it very often, maybe 10 or so times in my whole life?

the only time I remember actually seeing anyone vomit is when I was about 4 years old (my brother was about 2) and he vomited all over me! I am wondering if that was when I started being afraid of vomit. I remember panicing any time he was in the carseat (this was where it happened) for a while.

I really can't remember the last time I actually saw a person v*. I usually run away as soon as it begins so I barely see anything that happens. I know in grammar school I unfortunately saw it a lot, especially in the first grade. So much so that I still remember every single person who was sick that year and in what month!

Oh, the last time was a few weeks ago, at sailing camp. I freaked out and phoned my mom to come get me. One of the girls got motion sick and the instructors didn't send her home or even get her a bucket. When she inevitably got sick they were just like, "Okay, fine" and hosed the spot down. Yuck, right?

Yes..and it's disgusting but I don't get too bothered like I do about myself getting sick.

I was watching either wild boyz or jackass last night and steve-o v* in a plane while doing that anti gravity stunt and I freaked out because I just imagined myself in there while he did that!

Ugh, seen it too many times. I swear, emets are v*-magnets! I'm equally as scared of seeing it as I am of doing it myself.

Strangely though, I don't mind when it's very obviously fake, or animated. I thought the ipecac scene in Family Guy was hilarious.

But the real thing... *shudders*

Ha ha, I'd trade in a heartbeat!! I've seen other people v* far more often than I've done it myself so it would make things much easier for me!

Iv'e seen it plenty of times in person and on tv.
kids were always v* at school.I remember the janitor coming in and putting that powdered stuff over it lol.

I would HATE to have that job! ewk.

I once remember me, my brother and my mother about to take a trip to the grocery store.

it was a two door car.I was in the back and my brother was in the front passenger side.earlier that day, he got high and ate a crap load of food.he wasn't feeling good.

just when we were about to leave my brother opened the door and v*.I was trapped in the back but since i wasn't that bothered at the time it didn't affect me much.

if that happened now, i would freak out with a panic attack!iv'e seen mom,dad brother friend dogs v*.

when i do it i like to close my eyes because it's just gross.

when i was s* with the sv* GRAPHIC/NASTY PART: i freaked out because it was so sudden and couldn't go in the toilet so i went in the sink (i was the only one who used that bathroom so I didn't trip) and the sink clogged up so i had to get a plastic bag and unclog it and surprisingly it didn't make me nauseas.

i rather watch someone v* than v* myself...but probably rather v* myself than be v* on.

i'm waiting for the day where i can v* and enjoy it.Edited by: xmdslatx

I have seen about 10 people vomit. I can remember everyone of them in detail. From grammer school all the way till now. I'm afraid of seeing others vomit because I feel like it could make me vomit. Once I see it happen I just keep playing the eposide over and over in my head. Allmost like a dream. I become obsesed with it. The little girl at the mall....the guy at the airport.... Just can't get past it.

Kyle, I'd honestly trade with you in a half a second. For me it's more of a control thing. I don't mind it when I need to V*... I can control the situation. But when others V*, I have no control over when/where/what/how. That's the part that leads to most of my anxiety. Again, especially now that I have children.

well love, i pray some crazy insane but intelligent scientist creates a phobia-swapping machine.

so i can trade with you, or someone whos the same version.

i really feel i could beat that version of the phobia, i wont start an argument though, i just wish i had another angle of beating this phobia.

+ Various times, mostly as a child.
I freaked out equally for each time it happened.
That is something that has not changed since I was little.
I remember shutting my eyes tightly, shaking, sweating, covering my ears, and replaying it all day (and sometimes weeks later).
If I do happen to see or hear someone v*, I won't eat that day and I will avoid that person as much as possible in the days following the incident.
Thankfully it has never been one of my friends, otherwise they would be offended.

The most recent encounter I've had with someone V******* was actually about a week ago.
The best part about it is that I did not notice because the room was loud with people talking (including myself).
I only knew because everyone started talking about it and we were escorted to a separate room so they could clean up.
I didn't freak out too badly, but I was still a bit uneasy because I knew what had taken place. +
