I have a huge fear of vomiting AND getting car sick. So much that i will not go in other peoples cars besides my parents. I get so nervous and make myself car sick always. I'm already on anti-anxiety meds and i have been seeing a therapist for so long. Nothing seems to work. Its stopping me from doing so much, i really need advice/help.

Ooh! DRAMAMINE. My god-brother gets super bad car sickness and v*! My godmother pops some Dramamine and he is totally fine It makes you sleepy too (unless you get the kind without drowsiness), which I look at as a plus because then you conk out and not be anxious.

carsickness happens because your body is sitting still within the car, but
the car is moving and so is the scenery outside your window. this
causes a conflict within your body because what you see and what you
feel and as a result, a neurotransmitter is released making you s*. (i
learned about this in a biopsych class; sorry if i'm not explaining it well
enough.) anyway, if your eyes are closed and you're asleep, you won't
be seeing anything, and the conflict will be resolved. therefore, if you
close your eyes and go to sleep as soon as you get into the car, you
cannot get carsick. i'd suggest taking a dramamine (the original
formula... it will make you drowsy and help you sleep), putting on an
iPod, and going to sleep. bring candies and water with you too and
    you'll be just fine!

I've found falling asleep in a moving car is what makes me sick obviously not while asleep but when I wake up. Especially if I'm woken abruptly for this reason I never let myself sleep in a moving vehicle.

If your worried about taking meds, i.e tablet tht will knock you out, because I know i am! Im always worried tht if i take sleeping tABLETS, if im asleep I wont wake up in time!

So just go to your pharmacy and ask for a sea band then wear that it does not make u nauseas and works, trust me, we have tried it on my friend who gets so badly car sick! she put a band on and she was fine she ddnt have ot sleep sometimes you miss the best parts of the journey!

    SO try the band

That's odd, because my carsickness always got BETTER if I could look out the window.

    when i was younger, i used to get horrible motion sickness.&nb sp;
i have mostly outgrown it and haven't actually V*ed in
years, however i still get nauseous occasionally and have
emetophobia so here are my tips for relieving and
    preventing carsickness.
drive if you can, if you cannot drive, sit in the front and
    look out the front window.
if you are in the back, do not look out the side windows,
look around to the front. i don't like to sit in the middle
because i feel trapped, but that helps some people.
talk to people. distraction is an amazing tool. but try to
stay facing forward. if you are worried about someone else
V*ing, talk to them and keep their mind off of it.
turn the a/c vent on yourself or open the window to get
    some fresh air
breath mints, in peppermint and ginger are good. they will
actually stop the feeling of nausea.
i find Dramamine works very well because it also makes
me drowsy which relieves some of my anxiety
Sea bands also work, but you have to wear them correctly
the absolute best thing to do if you or someone in your car
doesn't feel well is to stop moving until you feel totally fine.
then put on sea bands, take Dramamine, whatever.
because neither of those things will stop motion sickness
once it has started, they only prevent the feeling in the
    first place.

all of these are things i have learned from my own
experiences. i truly hope that this info can help a fellow
emet endure car rides, whether they use it to help
themselves or someone they have to travel with.

I tried seabands before and was really happy with them. The insructions were pretty easy to follow to wear them correctly.

We give my middle daughter Dramamine every year before we drive to Florida. It works great for her. Not a bit of motions sickness.
