I agree 100%! I'll be voting Obama, ALL THE WAY!

I hope America doesn't fall for McCain's stunt. Also hope this thread stays conflict free.

I voted "other" because I don't like either McCain or Obama and want my vote to show my discontent with the forerunning options.

It's not gonna keep Obama from being president, though.

(P.S. Please don't attack me for not supporting who you do; I got attacked on another forum for voicing my opinion in a similar thread for just having written what I have here)

I don't like McCain or Obama, but I feel the latter is the lesser of two evils, so I'm going to vote for him. America will be f***** if McCain wins.

I can't believe McCain chose Palin as his vice president... He might as well have chosen Ann Coulter.

I won't be old enough to vote but if I could vote I would vote for Ralph Nader.

Ralph Nader rocks! If I thought he had a chance, I would vote for him, and I almost did when he ran before. But, I have to vote for Obama!

Ahh, why didn't you? It's not throwing your vote away if it's for someone you WANT to be in office. More people need to get this "throwing the vote away" business out of their heads because only then would we get who we really want in office, none of this "lesser of two evils" stuff.

No, I know what you mean. But, I did want Al Gore and I do want Obama, so I think it's okay. I really actually like Obama and Biden a lot!

McCain/Palin, but not cause I agree with them on everything. As a small business man I can't afford tax increases, I'm already lucky to keep 60% of what I clear. having said that I don't think Obama is a terrorist or a bad person and if he does win I'll respect his office and hope he does well. I voted for Ron Paul in the primary, and I have very heavy libertarian leanings.

Well, the way I look at that is...say you really, really want Nader, but with our system of voting you know he doesn't have a chance. You also wouldn't mind Obama, but would hate for McCain to get it...if you voted for Nader, that's one vote that would have counted for Obama.

I say it's different if you hate both candidates equally though. I hate the way our system works. That only the two candidates really get a fair chance. One vote doesn't REALLY count...not the way they count the votes here.

Yeah I'm not fond of how they work the election process either, the electoral college and deligates and all that crap just irritates me as well as that only the two big parties are ever real contenders. Maybe if there was another REAL viable option these (#*%&(#&$ politicians would actually do something FOR the people that elected them. Sorry, I'm getting jaded in my old age lol.

If your one vote doesn't really count anyway, why not vote for Nader?

All right, I'll drop it, but I want to pose one question first:

If there was some way to get the hundreds of thousands - millions of people who see our elections as "the lesser of two evils" to band together and support the third party candidates instead - whether by internet or some other media - so that someone else besides the Republican and Democrat representatives feasibly did have a chance, would you vote for him?

I think thats what did happen in the primaries with the Ron Paul phenomena. Its a lot but still not enough. The real problem is that we have winner take all here in the US. If it was a parlimentary system as it is in Canada, Aus, and most of Europe then other groups would have representation. As well thought out and reasonable as I think my views are I realize they are minority and probably always will be. Same goes for other fringe ideas, communists, greens, socialists, religious fundamentalist parties, etc. Any of those along with libertarians could be anywhere from 1-10% of the electorate but in a winner take all system 10% of zero is..... ZERO, so the majority views hold sway. It may not always be the republicans and democrats though, a third party could knock one of the majors out, it has happened before. The republican party was basically a single issue party formed against slavery in the south, they basically knocked out the whig party, and at the natin's founding the two major parties were the Federalists and the Democratic Republicans. Haha I digress, just food for thought from a former histroy student

Because I think my vote DOES matter and I like Obama!

But, if there was a third party candidate that had a chance AND I liked him or her the best, I would definitely vote for him or her!

It bothers me that someone could potentially get the most votes...and still lose. That's why I didn't bother voting in the last election, and I never, ever thought that George W. Bush would be re-elected. I can't REALLY complain because as minuscule as it might be, I didn't cast my vote.

I think that every vote should be counted. Not state by state...so that if you voted in a state and 49% of that state voted for one guy...those votes are basically worthless.

I'm so sick of this already, the media...the campaigns, the lies, the people believing the lies...blah!

I will still vote. If only to say I voted. McCain really scares me.

I personally think he's unstable. His child-like temper tantrums have been well documented. The last thing we need is a hot head like him.

He certainly will not do very much for how the rest of the world views us...which at this point is as bad as it's ever been. Do you think anyone actually respects America?

I also think our country can not take another 4 years of the same.

Last of all, he just skeezes me out. IDK, something about him just makes me feel very, very uneasy.

sadly, having siblings adopted from four different countries, I have learned that as a nation we have already lost the respect of other nations.

I wish I could just hear some unbiased stuff about both sides. My parents are voting Mcain, and I am leaning towards agreeing, but the Obama people see themselves as having a valid reason for wanting him just as much as the Mcain people do. I wanna keep an open mind, I just wish I could learn about the two of them without all the insulting one party or the other that goes along with it.

sorry, I hope that didn't offend anybody. I am just curious.

If McCain wins...I'm movin' to England!!!!!! Or Canada...it's closer...

Oh, and laylamommy, I agree...In one of my magazines that I'm subscribed to (Glamour), they had an article about Obama and McCain...They showed pics of both...and McCain CREEPED me out!!!

Of course, I must admit that I am a bit head over heels for Obama...

I'll say this.. I agree that McCain is a bit of a goblin looking character. No I don't agree with him on everything, I disagreed with he and Bush from Day 1 about the Iraq war for a variety of reasons. Lets be honest the rest of the world's opinion shouldn't affect who we choose as president, we have to act in enlightened self interest as I would expect citizens of other nations to do and not care two craps what America thinks. Also a lot of the economic woes that are blamed on Bush are structural and its difficult to blame either him or the democrats for them. I'm thinking of how we used to be one of the leaders in manufacturing, but no more. People say they're against outsourcing and I'd like to be but most likely goods made in the US would require higher wages which is a good thing...but that will be built into everything we buy, so will everything going up help the poor and lower middle class? No, will keeping the better paying jobs here offset it? Only partially...maybe. Its complex Sorry this was long.

You're so right, the ads are ridiculous, on both sides. Tell me what YOU will do for the COUNTRY not how awful your opponent is! SHEESH! I guess for info you could seek out many different news sources, yes they will each be biased (everyones biased) but on different "sides" so just know the truth is somewhere in the middle and then make the best decision you can based on what you learn. I've heard PBS is pretty unbiased. Also knowing what you believe and comparing it to what the candidates believe is a good way to choose (just gotta find that info first and they're both busy picking at each other). You could also check out their websites (their official websites that is) and see what they each say they stand for ... being skeptical of all things political I assume at least half is bull lol. Good luck! Can't wait for this circus to be OVER!
