Sorry my full question couldn't fit in the title.
I am doing a research project for school about phobias, with a specified look at Emets. And for the project i need a poll of the age and gender when first being afraid of V/knowing you where an Emet.
Personally i don't know if there is any correlatioin between men and women, or age. And the age brackets were given to me by the rules of the poll we need to do fyi.
Thanks in advance!

Most people become Emets between the ages of 6 and 10. I, personally, was 5-years-old.

Female 39 years old. Sorry I didn't read your message before voting, and I voted for my age now, not when i first got emet, so you'll need to take 1 vote off the 30-39 bracket and add one on to the Female 17 or younger bracket (there's always one )

Sorry I only read your message after voting. I'm female and 23, and got the phobia when I was about 11.

I'm 21, as well. A lot of people here seem to be 21

Hi. I am male. I am 31 now, but I was about 9 when I first had emetophobia. I talked with an expert of emetophobia and I found out that it is perhaps difficult to measure the gender ratio of emetophobics because men are perhaps less likely to report phobias than women are. Women may be more likely to seek help or support services than men, which could potentially skew the results (due to a biased subject pool). The emetophobia expert also told me that in the end there are probably equal numbers of males and females with the phobia. When he told me that I felt relieved that I am not alone as a male with emetophobia.

I still think this is a very useful survey. I don't mean to be overly critical. I just wanted to share my thoughts about how society sometimes encourages us males to "suffer in silence" or "take it like a man". There are probably many male emets out there we don't even know about suffering in silence.

Take care, and good luck with the project.
