It's Girl Scout cookie season! I love them, I'm so excited. But I know a lot of them are made from peanut butter and I realized I haven't really heard anything about the salmonella scare. What's the status? Did they figure out exactly where it came from or are they still recommending we don't eat products made with peanut butter?

I know anything with peanut paste is a no-no. But peanut butter is okay.
Also they sued the factory that produced the outbreak.

I'm not sure about girl scout cookies.
The girl who nobody knows, they only see
The girl who is only half way pretty and doesn\'t care
The girl whose following her one true dream, when nobody\'s looking...

Heh.. I just went to that website. How long does it take Salmonella to kick in? Because I definitely ate a cookie from the recall list with peanut butter in it on like Monday.

I got it from my boyfriend's sister and I think she'd eaten a bunch of them beforehand though and she hasn't been sick yet.

They did trace it to a plant in GA(again!) I think salmonella shows up within 48-72 hours for sure.

Even though the makers of girl scout cookies are assuring everyone that they are safe and they wouldn't put us at risk (which I'm sure the would not), I am still skeptical. Only because every day more and more companies are recalling more products. Even after they traced it to that plant in Georgia I do not understand why something that was surely safe to eat one day is not the next.

I also read that all of this started back in September and progressively gotten worse.

Oh, and I ordered 7 boxes of Tagalongs, forgetting about this peanut butter scare. I am not sure what to do...they will be delivered on February 14th. Maybe I'll wait to see if I hear if anybody else has gotten sick before trying them. Sad...I know!

Lol I'm really craving the Tagalongs. I went safe though and just ordered like 6 boxes of Thin Mints.

I asked about this too and they do say that Girl Scouts are completely safe and that they don't use any peanut products from there. I ordered the patties...
