Everything came back normal. I'm a little disappointed because I wanted an explanation for my reflux. Doctor thought it could be ulcer and that's why she ordered the Upper GI, but I don't have an ulcer. So what the hell is the reflux from? Doctor wants to follow-up with me and I go on Wednesday. And yesterday I went to buy more Prilosec OTC only to find the store had none. I asked why and they said the manufacture ordered a recall or something to fix something in the medication. Anyone know why? I had to call the doctor and get prescription Prilosec because Prilosec is the only thing that helps with my reflux.

Well, I gotta get going now. Hope everyone is well!!!!

Hey Girly! It's really good that you don't have an ulcer. The doctor may order more tests if the reflux is really bothersome, which is why he probably wants to do a follow up. I understand your disappointment, completely. Hopefully they come up with some kind of an explanation. Good Luck!

Caffeine can relax the LES, allowing stomach contents to reflux into the esophagus.

    Chocolate
Chocolate contains concentrations of theobromine (a compound that occurs naturally in many plants such as cocoa, tea and coffee plants), which relaxes the esophageal sphincter muscle, letting stomach acid squirt up into the esophagus.

    Tomatoes and tomato-based products
These foods relax the lower esophageal sphincter (LES).

    Alcohol
Alcohol relaxes the lower esophageal sphincter, allowing the reflux of stomach contents into the esophagus. It also increases the production of stomach acid.

    Tobacco
The chemicals in cigarette smoke weaken the LES as they pass from the lungs into the blood.

    Large meals
A full stomach can put extra pressure on the lower esophageal sphincter (LES), which will increase the chance that some of this food will reflux into the esophagus.

    Citrus fruits and juices
These foods relax the lower esophageal sphincter (LES).

Eating within 2 to 3 hours prior to bedtime
Lying down with a full stomach can cause stomach contents to press harder against the LES, increasing the chances of refluxed food.

    Wearing tight fitting clothing
Clothing that fits tightly around the abdomen will squeeze the stomach, forcing food up against the LES, and cause food to reflux into the esophagus. Clothing that can cause problems include tight-fitting belts and slenderizing undergarments.

    Fried and fatty foods
These foods tend to slow down digestion, keeping the food in your stomach longer. This can result in increases pressure in the stomach, which in turn puts more pressure on a weakened LES, allowing reflux of stomach contents

I had the same test done as you, and they found nothing also, and I thought it was all in my head until finally one day I couldn't take it no more and I went to see a stomach specialist, and he did the camera down the throat test and thats where he found I have a hernia in my esauphagus (I can't spell it but I'm sure you know what I'm saying), and thats what was causing my heartburn and indigestion....I take Pariet now everyday, and it works wonders except I still get indigestion from certain foods anyways.......so I would definitely get a second opinion.

As I have said before... DONT EAT LATE AT NIGHT!! That
will cause problems, I know from experience! Especially chocolate and
other junk. Ever since I stopped eating after 8pm I have been okay. You
will find the same if you do it, and just dont eat too much of that no
matter what time of day it is. I am glad there is nothing wrong with
    you.</font>

I had the same test done too and the results showed nothing out of the ordinary. I actually made them do it again, and still the same. Take a look at that food list of things that make reflux worse, it is so true. Some people just are more sensitive to these things. Anxiety also can play a role in reflux.

Yeah anxiety was the culprit with me for so long. It turned out that my last relationship was not only bad for me emotionally but horrible for me physically as well.

    Sorry you're going through this.

I went through a year of tests before finding out what was causing my stomach pain and nausea, it's a combination of GERD (which I treat with omeprazole (prilosec) too) and gastroparesis, which is nerve damage in my stomach that makes it not contract to move food or water along,s o everything just sits in my stomach making me sick. I take reglan now and that really helps with my stomach.

My advice to you, is don't give up until you find answers. I had a bunch of doctors telling me I was just fine, until I found one that found the real problem and now and my life is finally getting back to normal.

As far as other solutions to helping the reflux, the food list is good. But I also put cinder blocks under the headboard of my bed, to raise it up, this has really helped a lot. Also, don't eat anything late at night. My chiropractor also helps with this when I see her, chiros are good for more than just backs! Mine helps me with my tummy troubles too.

I had a upper GI done about 4 months ago. I had previous appt's for it and I didn't go. The panic attacks started just when it was time to leave. My doctor who is wonderful asked me if she should go with me and I told her ok but I may freak out really bad and I don't want you to think I am a nut case. I took 3 ativans under my tongue and I was too relaxed. I have a ulcer in the duodedum. The pain can be so horrible and nausea sets in. I am on medication for this but I don't eat breakfast nor lunch, she said I have to have something in my stomach to calm the juices down so I eat some crackers and water. I also had the tube done years ago, first time no problem the second time not good I fought with the doctor and finally he gave up, to this day I see that doctor in town and I put my head down out of embarrassment.

Just be careful what you eat and when you eat it.
