Default Has anyone here tried activated charcoal to make vomiting STOP?

I've recently read that activated charcoal can STOP vomiting caused by a stomach virus.

My son has just started preschool, and I am SOOOOOO anxious about his bringing home a stomach bug.... My anxiety has been absolutely a plague for me!! I plan to TRY some activated charcoal tablets if/when the next stomach virus hits our family. I do NOT plan to give them to my small child(not sure if that'd be safe), but I plan to use them for myself and my husband if needed.

Had anyone here had success w/ activated charcoal? Thanks in advance for any info you may be able to share!

Sully, activated charcoal is of no use in stopping vomiting unless the vomiting is caused by something directly irritating the stomach. Even then, I suspect you'd be more likely to wind up with black vomit than a cessation of vomiting. I would advise against taking anti-emetics in anticipation of getting a virus. At the point where you're starting to experience symptoms, then it would be good to take Pepto-Bismol and/or Dramamine. Dramamine is also available in suppository form in case your stomach has stopped digesting.

I had some sort of weird bug around last Christmas. I felt feverish even though I didn't actually have a fever. My head hurt and my stomach was nauseous if I ate even a little bit. My muscles were also twitchy. I drank ginger tea almost constantly and that kept my stomach settled.

I've found ginger to be very effective in controlling nausea. Not ginger ale which does nothing for me(most fructose corn syrup, flavoring and only a little ginger).
