I am no doctor, but maybe you have irritated something from coughing so much and so hard. I would call my doctor and atleast let him know what is going on. I hope you get to feeling better, keep us posted!!

My ex-husband was coughing up blood one time. He went to the doctor (I made him) and he had bronchitis and had to take antibiotics. So, go see your doctor!!!!

Hope you feel better soon!

hey hunny...sorry to hear things are a bit difficult. But your not
alone in your sypmtoms, I have a friend and after every gym class she
coughs/gags up blood because her body was working so hard. It's gross
to us, but normal to her. Each body to its own, so try not to worry.

I had that happen once when I had the flu (the coughing-sneezing type,
not the stomach "flu"). I called my doctor and had it checked out, and
in my case it was just irritation from coughing and such. That's
probably what yours is too, but it might be a good idea to have it
checked out, just in case.

As for the gagging, I've done that one too; in fact, it happens every
time I get sick. Whatever you do, DON'T try to not cough. It's actually
bad for you, the same way that holding a sneeze is bad; you're coughing
because your body needs to expell stuff. However, I did find that doing
the opposite, (coughing as hard and obnoxiously loud as possible), kept
me from gagging and made my friends laugh.

I woke up today aching all over and a fever. I know it is a chest cold and I got it from my daughter.

I too thought I could taste blood when I coughed this morning, but I think it may have just been the taste of infection. Next time you cough up "stuff", spit it into a white tissue, and decide if it was blood, or just the nasty taste of infected phlem.

Keep us posted!! Charlotte

Sorry to hear you have that happening. Like others said, I would see a doctor. I have had bad throat irritation from coughing, but it never caused bleeding. Get well soon!!!

my sister-in-law (shes 11) was sick for a few days and was coughing horribly..she called her mom one day all in a panic because she had coughed up blood...come to find out she had sever bronchitus and had coughed so hard she had irritated her throat and tonsils so abd that they were raw and bleeding...

so it is posisble..i would get yourself to a doctor to get some meds.

as for the gagging when you cough..I ahve done it a couple of times and while it is horrid i have never actually thrown up. again..id get yourself to a doctor so you can get healthy!!!
And now I\'m glad I didn\'t know
The way it all would end the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain
But I\'d of had to miss the dance

Hi Everyone, thank you all for your support...I am pretty sure it's bronchitis but the blood is definitely making me nervous so I am going to the doctor later on today.

It's a deep, dry cough so I am in pain, as well feeling back and chest pain. I am sure anti biotics will help (and no doubt naseaute me to no end !!)...I will keep you all posted.Edited by: snowangel

hiya i understand what your going through. go and see a doctor because it might be a throat infection. as for the throat irritation try some honey lemon and glyceral medicine, you can get it from supermarkets or chemist. dont take the dose like it says on the bottle. the bottle normally says to take one or two spoon fulls, dont do this, just sip a tiny bit when the irritation is bad and it coats your throat making it feel better. If you get Diarreah after this dont worry, your not sick, its just caused by the medicine!
