Psychiatrist fobbed me off? Answer please sage?

The doctor referred me to a Psychiatrist a couple of weeks ago, today my parents got a letter (because i'm 17) saying that the Psychiatrist has asessed my case (without even seeing me) and referred me to a "Psychotherapy Access group" in Stonebow in Hereford near where I live.

I'm worried he has just fobbed me off?
My doc expressed how urgent and how bad my case was. Im worried that they will not be able to deal with medication and stuff?
Or is this a good thing?
Is this what I need?

ive just read the letter and it says they are referring me to the "Improving Access to Psychological Therapy team (IPAT). not sure what that means?

Sorry, vv. I have no idea what any of that means. I live in Canada and our systems are totally different. Try to just trust that they know what they're doing, unless you have evidence otherwise.
