Is it actually possible to fight off the nausia. I have read on some websites that most emetophobes have found a way to fight off throwing up is this really possible to do? I know its probably better to just throw up and get it over with, but im just curious.

I am quite convinced that it is possible to fight of vomiting. I am quite certain that i have done it more than once. Hwen i get the bug, most people would vomit, but i find a way to keep it down. When i get all freaked up and positive that vomit is coming up than i slap myself, put my face in cold water, and start bouncing my legs uncontrolably.I dont mean to, but its just myreaction.

I do the same things with my leg as well. Last night i felt very ill but i never threw up. I felt like i needed to until about 5 in the mourning when i finally fell asleep. i don't know if i was sick or panicking or just dehydrated from not drinking due to fear of being sick. Everytime i felt like i might throw up i tried to control my breathing and shook my legs and it passed.... i wonder if this is a bad thing though because how does the virus get out if you dont v?

it sounds like ur nausea was prob due to panicking...i think this coz u mention that u felt ok when u got a grip of ur breathing....

just when i had a bug a few weeks ago - no amount of breath control or figgiting/running round my garden surpassed the nausea! but i still managed to fight it off - (alho i heaved lots and IT came up my throat - god i just wanted to get it out!!!) but NO!

I'm pretty good at fighting off nausea. Usually when i feel nauseaus I just lay down and try to go to sleep. That way I don't have to feel it. It usually works and I wake up and it's gone. I do the same thing with my legs too. When i am laying in bed, if I suddenly feel like i am going to do it, I start to shake, I have to keep moving my legs, and I keep swallowing, and take shallow breaths. That usually makes me feel a little better.

Yep, I believe it's possible to fight off nausea. I can fight off
throwing up when I'm dehydrated, and so far have been able to delay
throwing up when having a bug. That was nearly three years ago, though.
