that he can help me and it should only take around 24-30 sessions...but i
am reading about emdr also and im worried that CBT alone might not do
the trick...do i need emdr too...i have to beat this before college theres no
way id survive school with this..i have a year and half...god i hope i can do
it

to heck with that pessimistic attitude, boy! </span>
this problem does not have to make things impossible for us. i
thought i would never be able to sleep or relax at college but now my
dorm room at college is just as cozy and home-like to me as my parents
house. plenty of us in this support group have made the
transition from high school to college, plus other big moves.
Especially since you now have a solid and comforting relationship with
a therapist, you are working toward becoming stronger and it's highly
unlikely that this phobia will keep you from school-- as long as you
keep working toward and believing in improvement. It can
happen! I've been so happy to read about the good relationship
you're building with your therapist, keep that optimism and believe in
it! Even if it doesn't work in 30 sessions, so what! Don't
give up. The important thing is that you are doing somethign
about it! Try not to be nervous that CBT won't do it, you've just
begun! Will be praying for you, keep the faith. </span><br style="font-weight: bold; color: rgb(204, 0, 0);">

good advice, beth!

EMDR may be a valuable addition to therapy, but isn't necessary so long as you can get at the feelings either in imagination or in a real setting (some sort of gradual exposure). For me, I had "fooled" my mind so well over the years, that imagination just didn't work for me. But once I had a number of EMDR sessions, my ability to get into feelings even without the EMDR greatly increased.

Your therapist will know best...and as beth said, if you're not satisfied in the end, then keep going!
