Exclamation Ladies, please respond..ovarian cyst question.

Hi, I am wondering if anyone here has had any experience with ovarian cysts. I have had one for four months. I keep going to the doctor and I am doing everything they have told me to do(making follow ups, going in for ultrasounds etc)but the cyst is still there(complex hemmoraghic)and I don't feel like I'm getting any answers and I don't understand why I have to suffer through this pain! Of course, my biggest fear is the nausea that accompanies the pain. So my question is really this, is it unusual for a cyst to be there for that long? I have an appointment with a specialist in a week and a half so I suppose I could ask her these questions but until then I'm miserable, nauseated and afraid of it bursting. Ugh!

Never had one but I don't think nausea accompanies it? Maybe your making yourself nauseous :P

Just talk to your doctor about your concerns though. I am sure he/she can clarify things. This post is a bit old but I was wondering how you are doing now?

Kyphie I had one for about five months a year and a half ago. I didn't know it was an ovarian cyst... until it ruptured. So I'm glad that you're aware of what it is. They're incredibly painful. I'm sure your doctor knows what he's doing. The worst thing about cysts was that not even my dear friend Ibuprofen would help ease the pain. The only thing I found that helped were hot water bottles/bean bags.

The nausea will be from the anxiety and the pain associated with the cyst. There's no reason to be sick over an ovarian cyst though, so try to keep calm about that.

All I can suggest for now, from my experience, is to take it really easy because unfortunately there's not a lot of ways (that I'm aware of) to ease the pain from the ovarian cyst... but I could be VERY wrong because we all react differently to medications etc.

I'm surprised that they haven't removed yours yet, but I think they have to be a certain size before they can operate and remove it, or however it works. I probably sound dumb because I don't really know much about the surgery/operation etc..

I hope you feel better soon! Take it easy, take deep breaths, and I hope all your questions are answered with the specialist, hopefully she can help reassure you, and get some treatment for it.

Are you sure it isn't an endometrioma? If it is, the only definitive way to get rid of it is laparoscopic excision (not drainage/ablation/cautery/meds.) Hope you feel better soon, gyn problems are awful!

I get them very frequently and had one that grew for four months until it go so big I had to have it taken out along with my ovary! (doesn't mean yours will keep growing!) sometimes i think it can take a while for them to shrink and go back down. Remember its very rare that they burst as well.
Try not to worry and talk things through with the specialist!

Hey Ladies! Thank you for your responses...I still have my cyst..it still hurts..and I'm pretty sure it's the pain causing me to feel nauseated. It's a comfort to know I'm not the only one that's going through this type of thing. It's actually wreaked some serious havoc on my life! I was prescribed BC pills for the cyst and they made me go NUTS. Like, really crazy...I was suicidal, I walked out of my job, left my boyfriend and moved back in with my ex. I have been off the pills now for almost a month and I'm feeling much better mentally and I am picking up the pieces of my life. I must say however, it really burns me up that after all that the darn cyst is STILL there the same size and everything! Sheesh! Specialist appt. in just a few days....she better not suggest BC pills!!

I get small cyst on my ovaries all the time. They pop every single time i menstruate. Hot water bottle over the ovaries takes some of the pain away. I live in the bath tub with hot water half the time. You can demand that they remove it. Its causing more damage that good. Good luck i hope your pain comes down

I also had a cyst recently that eventually passed on its own. My dr. said that women get cysts on their ovaries all the time and sometimes we dont even know we have them and they usually pass on their own...which mine did. I had to do the same as you...go to multiple follows up and ultra sounds and finally it passed, but dr. said i will probably get another one in the future...nothing very large to be worried about. hang in there!

Well, it ended up bursting last night and I had to go to the ER. Horribly painful and now I have to go to work.....
