I hate airplanes..I just hate em'!!

I mostly fly southwest, and it used to be first come, first serve.
Meaning you get there early and you get your pick of seats. I hadn't
flown in a long time so when I get my e-ticket it says boarding pass B.
    There's A,B and C.

WTF!! Come to find out NOW you can print out your boarding pass from
home. I'm one of the last to board..sh** I end up sitting in the
last row in the damn middle(I wanted an aisle seat so I didn't feel
confined)CRAP!. In flight this kid 14? keeps grabbing the air
sick bag and putting it to his face. Then he'd pull it away, saying
    he's fine.

Then he'd do it again!! This lasted the whole flight. I wanted out of that seat soooo bad.

Plane lands, he never does v*, but as I'm casually walking, but wanting
to run down the aisle mowing people down, I smell "it". I couldn't help
to look for "it" There "it" was on </font>an empty seat dripping to the floor!!</font>

I couldn't begin to tell you all how shakey and scared I was I
tried to hold my breath, not wanting to smell or catch anything.
    My stomach hurt all day.

Airplanes are so disgusting..I hate em'

I had an experience like that about 6 years ago on a flight to Orlando from Denver. I was in the center seat, and there was a kid across the aisle and one row up from me that v* before we even left the ground! He was pretty little - I'd say about 3, and he was obviously just flat sick. When he did it the first time, he got it all over himself and the seat! His parents had to get into their luggage (in the overhead carry-on), get him and his dad a change of clothes, then the flight attendant had to switch out the seat cushions. He did it about 3 or 4 more times during the flight. What a way to start a vacation!!

UGH! I'm sorry that happened. Congratulations for even getting on a plane tho, I won't! The only good thing is you know that people v*ing on planes it's usually air sickness or too much booze to calm their nerves. Anyhow congrats on getting thru it w/o mowing people down.

I have had a terrible experience on a plane as well. Luckily it was just from Chicago to Cleveland so it only lasted about an hour, and I was on my way home so I didn't have to get on another plane anytime soon.

There was a sick kid (about 10 or 12) four rows ahead of myboyfriend and me. He was sick the whole damn time. It was loud and almost constant. I spoke to the flight attendant and tried to convey to her my anxiety, but she said "Don't worry, it's not from flying.. He was sick before they boarded." Which only made matters worse. I sat on that plane until everyone else was off and they had time to clean up and then made a mad dash for the exit.

BUT.. I have been in a plane many times and even a few times since then and nothing else bad has happened. I have a friend who flies for business every week, sometimes daily and he says he's never seen anyone get sick in the air. I love getting the hell out of Ohio so much that I will definitely risk it over and over.

I've flown loads of times and I've never seen anyone get sick, but I'm sorry you had to go through that. I have to say though, I've experienced far more kids v* on coaches and in cars than I have on planes... I'm just scared of flying anyway, but not for that reason, I just don't like the thought of it...

I'm lucky, so far the worst experience I had on a plane was some kid kicking my chair almost constantly....Grrr.

I actually remember hearing about emet when I was relatively young. I was watching Richard and Judy and they had a thing on phobias, well a woman phoned up and said she is afraid of V* and that when she is on a plane she has to get up and walk about the whole time. Richard was like "that makes no sense cos you are more likely to see people get sick" and In my head I thought "Yeah but that way she isn't trapped next to a puker and she can get away"....I think I was 8 at the time lol

I have only flown once, but its hearing stories like this one that make you leary about ever doing it again. I think I could fly before I got on a cruise ship though. I would love to take another cruise, but I dont think my emet will let me. I could even begin to imagine being "trapped" on a boat with a bunch of sick people. And you guys know how them norwalk bugs spread around on those cruise ships.
Im sorry you had such a horrible experience.

Hello, I am new to this group. All my life I have been scared of throwing up and of people throwing up. Now, I don't think my emetophobia is a bad as some because I love to travel. It is my passion. I am so scared of people getting sick when I am traveling but it won't stop me from getting on a train, plane, or bus.

I have a story about traveling. Last year I studied abroad in the Netherlands. It was a fantastic experience. Well, I decided to go to Poland with some Polish students. It was a 20 hour bus ride through Germany to get to Poland! I was so nervous when I was on that bus! And guess what?! My worse fear happend! There was a little boy and his mother sitting behind me!! I should of known better to sit near a child, but there were so many stops and people getting on and off along the way that I couldn't prevent it from happening. Well around hour 16 or so I hear it. I hear a cough then a splash! The kid behind me puked! I had a panic attack and I had to bury my head in my pillow and cover my ears! It was horrible. I wanted to get off that bus so bad. I just tried to stay calm and keep my head buried in my pillow. Finally the bus ride was over! It was such a joy to get off!

All of these stories are giving me a major panic attack. I once
got on a plane in London and the flight attendant, plumping our seats,
asked us kindly to keep an eye on the young teen sitting behind us
traveling alone because she got "travel sickness." We moved our
seats about five rows up. Thank goodness we did because we hit
bad weather and she got sick. However, to her credit, she was
prepared and handled it graciously. No one really knew she was
ill, except for me, because I was on the lookout for it.

The problem with kids is you never know. When I travel I give my
kids dramamine as a preventative. My daughter has a rock solid
gut but my son has a flip floppy tummy so I always give them the
preventatives, as I do for myself.

Now for the people who travel with sick kids WHAT IN THE HELL IS WRONG
WITH THOSE FRIGGIN A************HOLES!!?????? And what is worse
is the flight attendants who permit the people to get on the plane.
Virgin Airlines will not allow anyone who is visibly sick to get on
their planes. PERIOD. Deregulation does not apply to
foreign carriers so they can decide right at the gate who gets on and
    who does not.

Southwest will let someone get on the plane who is v** , but won't let
anyone get on the plane who appears drunk. I'm confused.

A few years back my husband and I were getting ready to board a flight
to Europe and he had been suffering with a sinus infection. We
decided, five minutes before boarding the plane, the journey was
a "no-go" and that was just for a sinus infection. The airline
was lovely to us and we were able to travel two weeks later after he
had a round of antibiotics and was recovered. True he was not
contagious, but we did not want to risk anything. First, I did
not want to get several hours into a long journey and have him become
more uncomfortable. I did not want the pressure to move into his
ears and possibly make him V****. I also did not want him sick in
a foreign country. Its one thing to be fine when you leave and to
become ill, its another thing to get onto any public transportation
knowing that you are sick. This is how the cruise ships become
infected. Some people are so damn selfish.

Flying has become such an issue with me that I almost always refuse to
fly anything but first class. I have obtained credit cards where
I can accumulate miles so that when I fly it is first class and it does
not cost me anything. The only time we do the "bus in the sky" is when
we make the quick jaunts to FL and then we do Southwest and I bite the
bullet. I also pick weird times to fly so that it won't be
infested every freak show known to man.

When I was a kid (I am in my 30's) flying was somewhat luxurious.
People dressed nicely, behaved with poise and grace at the terminals
and during the flight. Flying experiences are now just as bad as
riding the Greyhound bus. People dress for travel like they are
going to a high school baseball game or worse yet, like they rolled out
of bed. Children misbehave in airports and the in-flight espred
de courer has become bar room low class behavior. Aside
from V**** all over the place, have you ever noticed how people
leave trash on the plane? They can't pick up
their newpaper and throw it away? Give me a break.

Did I just get on a major soapbox?

    Stella,

You have some good points. I have no idea why people would fly sick or make their kids fly sick. I would definitely not. I mean, get a room for one more night and make the kid rest and sleep it off. I know that I personally would not be able to handle flying sick, so why would I expect my child to do it?

But, don't get discouraged about flying. Many flights are v* free!

Thanks everybody for your own stories. It makes me feel like I'm not alone.

I feel sorry for anybody on a plane, bus, or anywhere they're trapped. It's such a scary feeling being trapped.
