I'm sorry you are feeling like this! Have you talked to your doctor? Maybe there is some sort of hormone pills or something they can put you on to make you feel better?

kat, Im sorry to hear you are feeling crappy. You seem to get like this often. Maybe you should see a specialist like a gastro dr. he could run some tests maybe and rule things out. Hope you feel better soon and let us know how you are doing.

Kate, my sister is 40 and she has been going through menopause for about 3 years now. It is an early menopause, but it has been terrible for her. The worst part for her is the mood swings. She has to take a high dose of anti-depressant in order to function normally. And, if she runs out of it, you better watch out! She is awful to be around when she isn't taking it.

I'm sorry you are feeling this way. Maybe they can get something straightened out for you--I know you must feel miserable!

How about birth control pills? It doesn't sound like you need them because your husband has already had a vasectomy, but they would at least regulate your cyles and ease some of the problems.

Kat didyou see? They have a NEW test now that you swallow a pill camera. You go into the office, they give you some water to drink it down with because of course it's not tiny, but the guy theyshowed having it done on T.V. took it with ease. Then, they have you sit upright, lie down, ect.and the camera records the whole thing!

I hope you are feeling better soon Kate. I wouldn't be able to do those tests either, so don't feel bad. Have you ever taken any natural remedies?? My mom has, and they can be very effective. I can always find out which ones if your interested. Not saying that it is menopause, but it could be an early one. (I know you probably hate hearing that, and I hated typing it, cause I dred it!!)

You know I would not be surprised if I was going through the beginnings of menopause...but I think I have soooo much stress in my life...namely my marriage...that plays a big effect in how I feel...but I am such a chicken...but I know things will not get better until I just do it....so maybe I will get my nerve up next week when i do feel better to go ahead and make that call to my gastro....and just do it....hopefully the tests will turn up something that they can treat...I probably have an ulcer or something bad...Kat

Yeah, if only I could get that lucky to swallow a camera....but I know my gastro probably won't let me...but I certainly will ask...that would be alot better than going through a colonoscopy...however if I have to have the endoscopy... then I guess they will have to knock me out for that anyway....I am a BIG baby when it comes to these tests......

Mitch yeah I don't like the thoughts of that early menopause...but if it's that...then surely I would take whatever to ease my problems.....being my main one is getting sick at that time of the month....that's the one I hate dealing with....my stomach feels so nasty right now...it will last 2-3 days...then go away...it's so weird...but yeah find out what she takes and let me know...maybe i can try it...Kat

If you do have an ulcer you need to go in and get it treated. The worse the ulcer gets, the more serious your problems will be. Most ulcers are actually caused by a certain strain of bacteria, so all it really takes to cure it is a couse of antibiotics and some acid reducers. They can even determine whether you have it or not by a simple blood test - you wouldn't have to have the colonoscopy or endoscopy. A lot of times they will follow with an endoscopy though, to make sure it is gone and to assess the damage. My husband went through all of this about a year and a half ago. The endoscopy really wasn't that bad. He was a little out of it for a few hours, slept a lot that night and was completely fine the next day. THe antibiotics kicked in right away and he felt so much better within 24-48 hours!

kat, I am sorry you are feeling so crappy. I know I would be scared to have all those tests too. I think I could handle doing the camera thing though, maybe you could talk your gastro doc into doing that first, before you have to do anything more invasive.

I hope you get to feeling better soon!!!!

Maybe some Pepsi would help to settle your stomach.

Don't worry about the endoscopy and colonoscopy, they aren't bad at all! I had to do them both last June, and I came on here very afraid too, but they were no big deal at all. The thought of them is much worse than actually doing them. Edited by: ChippedAway
