But I did...

5 years ago I rode at a saddle club fun show put on by my friends saddle club called Silver Buckle. The day was horrible, my mare wouldn't load in the trailer, she smacked her head when she finally did, she kept running off in the ring, rearing, bucking. You name it. She got me off, twice. After that I was terrified of showing her, and didn't until last year.

I joined another saddle club, Trail Dusters of Hamel, and have had some great shows there.

Well, Saturday, I went to another show at Silver Buckle! We did okay, the day started off kinda shakey, she was jigging all over the show grounds and not settling down (and horribly in season, calling for her 'boyfriend') but we had all clean runs in 5 events, and even placed 4th place in pole weaving, and the competition was a lot tougher than we're used to.

Conquered my fear of Silver Buckle

Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a similar experience with when I was doing an obstacle course at
about 3.5 ft (high for me) on a dutch warmblood who was too strong for
me and I had a really bad fall. After, I could not even step over
a pole without being pertrified....well just a few weeks ago I jumped a
little crossbow!!! I was so proud! LoL its like starting
from the complete beginning, and in terms of jumping, it feels like
what level I was at about 10 years ago....but I am happy to be able to
get back into it however slowly it takes!

I am teaching riding and leading hacks at a local farm this summer
(obviously not jumping becuase my boss knows what happened) but I am
hoping on my days off to take a horse and do some little crossbows and
work my way up.

BTW, your horse is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!! I LOVE her color!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How old is she? What's her name? how many
hands? Sorry for all the questions, but I think she is such a
gorgeous horse!

Aww sounds like a triumph for sure! I love to jump, but my barn is mainly western riders, so I switched...

Her name is Gracie (registered Paint, her registered name is Jedis Drea), she's 9 years old now (I've had her 5 years, today!) she's about 16 hands, so tall for a Paint. And thank you I really adore her. I don't know why her tail was up like an arab all day

I saw the tail and was wondering if she had some arab in her! I
thought she might be a paint, but she looked awfully tall so 16 hands
explains that! She is absolutely gorgeous!

I miss my horse...she was a black quarter horse 16.5 hands, but we
retired her at age 34 and she died a year later....what a great
horse!!! You could plop a beginner on her and she would be so
gentle and yet offer a great ride to an experienced rider!

I love western! That's the kind of work I'll be doing this
summer with Argentinian horses, western style treks....hello full speed
gallops in fields that never end!

Oh gosh, I love paints. My favorite horse is a paint...

anyway, congrats!!! I've never liked showing, so that takes some guts!! I had a similar experience, withthe horseIwas ridingfreaking out so much (in stadium jumping) that we just galloped around the arena until I finally slowed him down. We jumped only one fence! But I've recently (mostly) conquered a fear of up-and-down jumps on cross country, so that's good. yay!
