I'm only 17, but i usually get some kind of PMS... i heard it was
supposed to be worse with age, but not for me >.>;; i've been on
sites and looked up symptoms, and it says "women probably will only
experience a few of these symptoms" but i seem to have them all!! its
really getting annoying. Plus, i'm really busy, this is not a time for
me to be sick. I have to go shopping today and get something for my
friend, who's having a party on sat.. but yet i feel like I am PMS-ing
really bad, and i have - not quite diareah (sp lol) but close to it...
and this is a week before i'm even supposed to start!! >.> i know
this usually happens to me, but the symptoms feel worse this time
(probably because i'm so busy this week, and i've been exhausted since
finals just finished monday) and its making me start to panic that i'm
getting sick... and also, everyone keeps talking to me and that just
makes it worse - when i feel sick i CAN'T talk to people, i need to be
alone.. and my family makes me eat, and that's the last thing i want to
do now (my parents think i have an eating disorder, since i'm a light
eater and often don't even have an appetite -_-;; ) does anyone else go
through this, or know of any solution to it?? Thank you!!!

I go through that a lot. It always varies with me too. Some months I have virtually no symptoms and others are horrible. I also have IBS which plays a huge part. During really stressful times or times when I am not eating so great seems to be when it gets worse. Are you really stressed out? Having you been eating a lot of junk food or maybe not eating much at all?

yep, both. I had finals and the last week of school this past week
(thursday, friday, and monday two tests a day >.>;; ) so i was
stressed about those. Plus, when school was in i barely was eating at
all. I'd have no breakfast, some chips for lunch, then come home and
have 2 dinners >.>;; now that its vacation i've been trying to
get on a normal breakfast, lunch, and dinner schedule but its turned
out to be just lunch and dinner half the time. maybe the change in diet
is causing it? plus i have allergies, a sore throat for the last few
days, which has been just annoying too and worrying me that i am
getting sick >.>; but i am that way too - that some months i'm
fine and others its horrible. i'm just glad its summer and i don't have
to go to school like this.. Thanks, i'm glad i'm not alone in this
    horrible monthly thing >.>

Getting on birth control pills actually helped me somewhat. It helped to regulate it a lot and my cramps aren't nearly as bad. But stress and eating seem to be big triggers still. I try to remind myself of that when it gets to that time of the month, but it's hard not to stress sometimes - especially around finals. As far as the getting older thing, it did get worse as I got older for a time, but then it kind of leveled off. I actually just got off the pill (trying to get pregnant in a couple of months) so I am scared of what my periods are going to belike now that I am off. Hopefully not too bad!

Oh yeah, my mom always comforts me by saying "I had a lot of symptoms,
but then i got on the pill and they all went away". But I still can't
just get on that now, i couldn't ask my parents to be on the pill or
they'd think i'm having sex... yeah, normally i don't get stressed, but
i think that's because i ignore my stress instead of recognizing it...
i never realize i am stressed until something (like finals) ends and i
feel really relieved. Good luck with getting pregnant!! and at least
the period stuff isn't all the time lol, there are some weeks of
    feeling normal ^^

Isnt being a woman just grand?

To be hoenst with me the periods have been getting better with age (even though in not even 22)...

I also went on the pill at 18..it helped majorly..i am SO regular now and the symptoms are SO much better...i am very moody but the physical aspects are MUCH better.

Id suggest talking to your mom if you would be interested in the pill...explain that you dont want it for contraceptive purposes but only to help you regulate your periods and help take away some of the pms symptoms. fi she doesnt like it..look at it this way..at 18 you can just go and gget it ( you might even be able to now..but where you are a minor and living at home id REALLY recomend the open communication with the folks!!).

good luck...keep your chin up..ocne the stress wears off and you get into a healthy eating patters it will get better!

    And now I\'m glad I didn\'t know
The way it all would end the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain

Thanks, I think i will wait until college, its only a year and then at
least it gives me more time to learn to deal with this on my own. Its
probably good for me to just deal with this and learn how to get over
it.. I'm feeling so much better now, for some reason. I still feel a
little bad, but i think most of it was panic.. (not to mention the fact
    that last night i had a pretty bad dream in which my dad was sick ^^;;
and following me around so i ran away >.>; ). pain killers
actually work good for me - like midol but i don't like to take
those for PMS.. i like to tough it out for some reason, i feel good
    when i can get over something without the use of medication >.>;;
but i still think the idea of the pill may be a good one, if it really
helps that much.. but, i heard there were side effects? that's what
makes me the most nervous, i usually get side effects to things (like i
always get tired when I take things, even when they're supposed to be
    non-drowsy...)

I ahve had NO side effects from the 3 different pills i ahve been on..no weight gain...no nausea..no d*..no nothing..

You shoudl be proud of yourself for toughing thinsgs out..i never sued to eb liek that..iw as a wuss..taking meds for everything..then i realized that in the end i would feel ebtter (physically and mentally) if i could tough it out..it makes you feel more powerful if you can deal with it!!

I just wanted to comment on the thing you said about how you need to be alone when you feel sick. I am the same way. I can't even hardly answer when people ask me what's wrong, I just panic until I can get by myself. I wonder if that is some sort of weird social anxiety thing.

I suffer from horrible PMS too. It does vary from women to women but there is something called PMDD that I am almost sure I suffer from. It is a bad form of PMS where your symptoms are very very bad and crippling for about a week before your period. Your doctor should have some solutions for you and the pill is always an excellent solution
