    Default Reasons you fear V*ing

Okay so I don't know how to put this up as a poll, so I'm going to make this a multiple choice type of question:

Q1: What is it about V*ing that causes you the greatest distress?

    a) Being out of control of my body
    b) Feels foreign/don't know how to do it
    c) Afraid it could aspirate to my lungs
    d) The smell/sight/sensation of it
    e) Belief that I won't be prepared for it
    f) Embarrassment if in front of others
    g) None of the above

Q2: As an emetophobe, do you additionally suffer from any of the following?

    a) Irritable Bowel Syndrome
    b) Gastritis
    c) Generalized Anxiety Disorder
    d) Panic Disorder
    e) Depression
    f) Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
    g) None of the above
    h) Some of the above (please specify)

Q3: If someone near you were V*ing due to non-contagious reasons (ie: morning sickness, drinking too much alcohol, etc), you would:

    a) Still be scared/panic/afraid since it's V
    b) Not be afraid/panic since it's not contagious
    c) Still be scared, but to a lesser extent since it's non-contagious
    d) None of the above (please explain)

Q4: The last time you V*ed was:

    a) Never V*ed in your life
    b) In the last year
    c) In the last 2-4 years
    d) In the last 6-10 years
    e) In the last 10-15 years
    f) In the last 15-20 years
    g) It's been over 20 years

Q5: Please state your age and the number of times you've contracted an SV in you life:

Thanks for your time. I am currently trying to wrap my head around conditions that seem to tend to co-exist with this phobia, as well as other elements that seem consistent with emets.

This one was hard to answer, because A, D, and E are equal for me, I feel.
    Guess I'll choose:
    a) Being out of control of my body

Q2: As an emetophobe, do you additionally suffer from any of the following?

    h) Some of the above (please specify)
--IBS, mild gastritis (per recent endoscopy), Panic Disorder, depression

    c) Still be scared, but to a lesser extent since it's non-contagious

    c) In the last 2-4 years
    --October 2011

Q5: Please state your age and the number of times you've contracted an SV in you life:

--31 yrs old; Oct 2011 was the first SV that I remember-- think that's why it freaked me out so bad!

    None.

I've contracted mild viruses when I was younger which I think I can put down to Rota since the symptoms weren't as severe or prolonged as noro, these happened when I was 7 and 14 which makes me wonder if the next time will be 21...

Ultimately though it's the nausea and the anxiety that can / does precede a SV or the fear of getting a SV that causes me the most trouble.

A4: b) In the last year (early January 2012)Q5: Please state your age and the number of times you've contracted an SV in you life:

A5: I am 35 years old and I have contracted a SV numerous times in my life. I have contracted it 4 times since 2006 and basically every year from the earliest I can remember until I was 17 years old. I was hospitalized when I was young for a SV that left me dehydrated and unable to keep any fluids down. I had a lovely stretch from 17 yrs old to 29 yrs old where I didn't catch one virus but then they started hitting back with a vengeance.

But I don't actually think it counts... I manage to control it so strongly that it doesn't get to happen.
    *Warning can be graphic*
(I can feel the symptoms, and everything but for the v* itself. It just stops one second before actually happening. But the feeling is the same)

Q5: Please state your age and the number of times you've contracted an SV in you life:

I am 21 years old. Don't know what is a SV but I didn't have it. Not many viruses in my life. Viruses/germs/bacteria is not a big deal for me. I mean, I don't care about the reasons, v* is v* after all...

Q1: What is it about V*ing that causes you the greatest distress?

All of them, but d) The smell/sight/sensation of it causes me the greatest distress

Q2: As an emetophobe, do you additionally suffer from any of the following?

    a) Irritable Bowel Syndrome
    f) Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (mildly)

Q3: If someone near you were V*ing due to non-contagious reasons (ie: morning sickness, drinking too much alcohol, etc), you would:

    a) Still be scared/panic/afraid since it's V

Q4: The last time you V*ed was:

    f) In the last 15-20 years

Q5: Please state your age and the number of times you've contracted an SV in you life:

I am 24 and can remember 4 times, but there is probably more. I was hospitalised as a tot as I kept being sick randomly all the time, and had terrible stomach pains, so not sure if this was *sv or something else. I am pointing towards rota virus, but it went on for months so maybe it wasn't.

" Q5: Please state your age and the number of times you've contracted an SV in you life:

I'm 38 and have had sv at least 5 times and all of those that I can remember I had since I've had kids!"

This is why I fear having children...they touch everything and then put their hands in their mouth, nose etc. and that is how they get SV's!!!!! I want kids but I may have to wrap them in a bubble or be home schooled!!!!

Thanks for your time. I am currently trying to wrap my head around conditions that seem to tend to co-exist with this phobia, as well as other elements that seem consistent with emets.
