scared to be sick

hello *waves*



My throat was really bothering me on sunday. burning when i swallowed
and i had a headache and was a bit out of it. My left ear..doesn't
hurt..but it does ache very lightly and when I swallow it makes like a
popping sound. I drank lots of fluids
and took my vitamins and on Monday the out of it feeling went away the
throat became not burning but more itchy..not painful at all. I've been
coughing and sneezing but I still have my voice but its horse in the
morning. I took a nap and woke up with a stuffing nose but that went
away when I moved around.



But I was chatting with a friend on aim and I told her my symptoms and
she thinks I may have strep...one of the later symptons
is...V****ing...and..now Im shaking and scared that I have strep and
that I will get sick....



I'm so scared.

Sounds like just a bit of a cold to me.

That's what I was going to say. Your throat is probably sore because of sinus drainage. I don't think strep usually comes with so many cold symptoms. You'll be fine. You're freaking out for no reason at all. Doesn't at all sound like strep to me. And by the way.. I have had strep like 20x and my daughter gets it every year and neither of us has ever vomited from it.

Even if it is strep, adults don't v** from it. Kids often
do. However, with that said, my son had strep throat in June and
did not v** nor did he have any nausea. If you feel as though you
have a throat infection, get to the doctor and have them do a rapid
strept test. If it is strept, you can get an antibiotic quickly.
If it is not, then you know you have a virus and it just has to run its
course.

By saying virus, I am sure that stella means a viral infection, not a stomach virus.

I hope you are feeling better, sounds like a cold/sinus thing to me. I would go to the doctor to be sure though.

It sounds like you just have a sort of cold. Strep feels like a very
sore throat with a coated feeling the back of your throat. If any kind
of sinus congestion or drainage then it most likely isn't strep.



I've had strep 4 times in my life. The first time I was about 6 so my
memory about it is a little vague. I suppose I could have v* and don't
remember, but emets tend to remember every v* incident in their lives
so it's unlikely. The next 3 times were when I was 12-13 and I
definetly didn't v* then.



Even if you do have strep I wouldn't worry about it.

It definately sounds like a cold and blocked sinuses. I'm always getting it! I find over the counter decongestants work wonders if your not too worried about taking medication for it and you can get non drowsy or drowsy. Ask pharmasistto reccomend one for you.

exctly the same as me.


it's also quite likely to be hayfever.. my mum works in a chemst and when i told her my symptons she said " yep hayfever, i've sold so many sinutab's today cause of it".


i had the funny throat, sneezes, blocked sinuses, achey body, headache... all of it lol.


it did honestly feel lkr a cold.. but today, it's gone.

I'm better now...but now my throat hurt still when I swallow and I can't talk because it hurts.

Now I worked at a Day Care camp where I had to yell during when my
sickness was at its height so I hope its that...and not strep..I'm
still scared but it hurts to talk and if hurts more on one side.

I have a friend who is a medical assistant and she says there's some head cold funk going around that has a sore throat. I think if you had strep you wouldn't be able to make it to work.

HI, You sound like your getting a ear infection. My ear infections always start with a incredibly itch ear that I only wish I could get inside to scratch and then it gets runny which cause my throat to be irritated.My ear also pops a lot when I'm congested. I suffer with ear infections from May to September due to my allergies and I never get stomach sick from them. I don't take oral antibotics anymore because they never work. I use ear drops called floxin otic whichdon't have ftertaste should some run down your throat from your ear if you should happen to have a preforated ear drum. Which I do have. It doesn't sound like you have strep, so rest easy and just watch the symptoms with your ear. Letting it go to long can make the condition become terribly painful. Good luck.
