He's going to the doctor today for a test. The bad thing is I m in a wedding on Saturday, so I really can't afford to get it from him. If he turns up positive, I will ask to go on antibiotics as a preventative. I actually hope it's not just a cold because then there is no way to prevent me from getting it and I most likely will be sick on Saturday. Yuck!

Take vitamins, drink plenty of O.J. wash your hands. That is all that I can think of. I hope everything turns out well for you

The doc said he thought it just looked like a respiratory "thing" but took a strep test anyway. He doesn't really have any other symptoms besides a really bad sore throat. I'm not sure about a fever - I can't get him to take his temperature. I don't understand how they can diagnose it as a respiratory thing if he has no other symptoms. The strep test should be back in a couple of hours. I hope I don't get it, whatever it is!

I wouldn't recommened taking antibiotics unless you are actually sick,
because over use like that can lead to infections by antibiotic
resistant bacteria.

As for how the doctor might diagnose it as not strep I assume it would
be by how his tonsils looked when the doctor looked at them.

Anyway I'm confidant that you'll be okay even if do catch a cold before the wedding.

I had one on the day of my graduation and between that and my anxiety
that I'd v* on the field in front of a thousand people I felt like
crap. I got through it just fine however so there's no reason you can't
too!

If you want to know what helped me through graduation I'd say......
painkiller every 4-6 hours is a must, double or triple the amount of
water you usually drink (although of course got to the bathroom a short
time before the ceremony ), and some
Afrin nasal spray if you have really bad congestion. With the Afrin you
have to be careful not to use it for longer then the instructions say
since it can be habit forming, but if you just need relief for a short
time like during the wedding it's wonderful!
