My best friend has been angry at me for the past several weeks or so. Anything which annoyed her got reflected onto me.

I decided to go for the job of beign a prefect at my school, which is where you basically are in charge of certain jobs for staff etc. I told my best friend that I was going for it and said she should too. There was also this other job we decided to go for, which is assissting in some club thing.

So I hand in my form for the prefect thing and a few days later she says: Oh I never handed mine in in the end. I forget about it, until about a week later I'm told I got the job as a prefect. She never talks about it and I wonder what she's thinking.

Now she tells me. She just told me she is really angry at me for not telling her I handed my form in, because she thought I didn't, so she never handed hers in in the end. She blames me for her not becoming a prefect. I hate arugments, and I feel literally like throwing up now, because they make me feel literally sick. I hate this. She is blaming me for everything.

EDIT* Wow, I just realised how completely and utterly incohesive that was. Basically, my best friend is jealous because I got made a prefect and now we're both going for this other job at school and I feel if I get this too then she will go through the roof.Edited by: s0ccer_princess

I know that it is so hard honey, especially being in High School. but the thing is she needs to take responsibility for her own actions. If she really wanted to be a Prefect then she would have handed in the nec forms. She only has herself to blame really. My guess? She is jealous and scared. Jealous that you get to do something she doesn't and scared that you will be taken away as her best friend. But this has gone on long enough and she has no right to make you feel this way. If I were you I would contact her and calmly say that you are sorry she feels this way but that she cannot blame you for it. Maybe tell her that being a prefect is naff anyway even if you love it. Just as a way of breaking the ice and tell her it definately isn't worth ending a friendship. and if she is still blaming you then she isn't that good a friend anyway.
Be courageous, believe in yourself, and be the best woman you can be. I'm with you all the way.

I told her it isn't so good anyway, and she's calmed down a bit since.

She's quite competitive anyway but hates the idea of doing things alone.

The only problem is that tomorrow we have interviews for this other job, and I'm not saying I will get it- I don't even want it now for the trouble it will cause, but if I did get it, she would hate me.

She isn't going to hate you if you do get it. I agree, I think she is jealous of you. She is probably wishing that she could be more like you, with confidence to go for things you want. If she should choose this as an opportunity to stop speaking with you, than, as hard as it will be for you, she just isn't mature enough to handle this friendship. But I'm sure that everything will work out for itself, just keep going after the things that make you happy.

I'm just worried it might drift us apart slightly, as it might accumulate if I get his job.

I'm not sayingI will get it. I'm not even sure if I want it now. I'm just worried I could make her very unhappy, she already is talking about maybe getting some medication because she gets severe mood swings.

I did the interview today, it went fine, but I would prefer to get one of the secondary jobs now, rather than the head job.

We get told first thing tomorrow morning at school the results of the interviews.

I never said, but it's for a job atthe school bank. Everyone had the option of going for the postition of Manager, but I actually said in the interview today I wouldn't mind working on advertising either.

I hope my best friend gets the job as manager, or neither of us get it. Wish me luck tomorrow!

Well, first congratulations on the prefect job! You should be proud of yourself even if your friend isn't. I agree w/t he others that she is jealous and she is taking it out on you which you do not deserve. She is probably angry at herself for not going for it as you did and angry at you in turn for being what she is not. Also please do not blame yourself for her unhappiness. She has her own choices and she can either mull over and be upset aboutthe mistake she made for not applying or she can learn from it and know better next time. Either way it is not your responsibility, all you can do is be a good friend to her w/o lessening yourself.
