    Default Talking to your doctor

Hi all. So lately my anxiety has gotten worse and so I've decided to talk to a doctor tomorrow morning, but I'm not really sure what I am supposed to say to them. I have also been having terrible stomach aches about once a day and don't know if that's relates but definitely want to bring that up to my doctor. I am just kind of anxious for the appointment and really have no idea what to say, so any input at all would help!

Just say what's bothering you. Make it clear how much it's affecting your life. Does the anxiety stop you from socialising, working, school, having relationships? Does it give you panic attacks or physical symptoms (mention the stomach ache). Just get it all out. I hope you have an understanding doctor, some are rubbish. If your doctor turns out to be an idiot - don't give up, go and talk to someone else.

Hi, I just saw this post and wondered how the appointment went?
I also spoke to my doctor about this phobia this week and was unsure if she would take me seriously or judge me or just laugh at me and tell me I'm crazy... Luckily she was nice, she didn't say much on the matter but gave me the phone number for the mental health team to make my own appointment for some kind of therapy through them which is a great start!
I hope your appointment was a success too and that you have a bit of insight on what's going on with your tummy and what can be done to help with your phobia

Hi, my doctor appointment did not go too great. She wrote my problems off and told me I just needed to be stronger and to take laxatives to help with what she believed was constipation. I went to a therapist this week which didn't help much but hoping a few more appointments help. However, my stomach issues have continued and now I'm experiencing low grade fevers at night so thinking I need to see another doctor. So I'm hoping the therapy will begin to help more with my anxiety and we can figure out the other issues with another doctor! I hope your therapy helps you too!

You just need to be stronger? What is that supposed to mean? I think a different doctor is what you need. Sorry it did not go well. If she knew anything about emet she would know we are pretty strong already trying to function with this phobia that we can't get away from. I hope your therapy begins to help and that you feel better soon.

Yeah I agree - find another doctor. There are some out there who are brilliant with mental health issues and some who are terrible. Hope your therapy improves.

My doctor is the same. Ever since I reached of age, and my mom stopped coming with me, I kid you not my doctor looks at me for under 2 minutes, and waves me off.
