And as of today, I am on to step 3 in my hierarchy!!! Yay me!! It's slow going, but I'm definitely making progress. I'm not scared of most common words for vomiting anymore!!! I was with my mom in the store on Saturday, and she said she wasn't going to buy a DVD for a gift because the cover looked "pukey." I had a momentary startle, but no other anxiety. My only thought was, "Well, technically the cover is ripped, not pukey, but whatever."

Does anyone have any ideas for getting rid of the "doom" thought. You know, the "I haven't vomited in X years, so it's going to happen soon." That's the one flawed thought that I'm having a lot of trouble with.

Hey - good going. YOu're doing well.

As for the doomed thought...you just have to keep telling yourself that this doesn't make any sense. People don't vomit based on any sort of clock or calendar. That's ridiculous! (tell yourself that, I mean)

Talk to your therapist about what to do about those obsessive thoughts when they enter your head. Perhaps you can try just saying "Stop!" or something (I did that once, and it helped a lot)

    Good luck!
