Default Don't want to go to theme parks with rollercoasters for fear of getting sick

    Hey there,

I have a bit of a problem. I two birthday parties coming up and they are both in a theme park, with rollercoasters and other attractions of the kind. However, I hate attraction parks, mainly because I know it is an area where people are at higher risks of getting sick from the rides. Personally, I don't enjoy rollercoasters not only because I know that I won't feel great either during or after the ride but also because I simply don't have any fun when on an attraction.
So, does anyone have any advice for me? I really want to go to both parties to socialise but at the same time I really don't want to have to say no overtime someone suggests we go a ride. Does anyone feel the same way? How can I handle this?
    Thanks in advance!

I used to be terrified of rides due to the thought that I or someone around me may get sick, but after a family holiday to Disneyland I really improved, rollarcoasters aren't prone to making people sick unless you suffer from motion sickness and generally people that do wouldnt go on one, just avoid spinning rides, I really do think if you relax you'll enjoy the rollarcoasters, you're with your friends don't panic and have lots of fun , you'll be 100% fine ☺️

I've grown up going to theme parks. In fact, as a child we used to go to Disney for 2 weeks a year. 6 Flags, Busch Gardens, we hit a LOT of parks in the summer time. In all my years (and there's a lot of them! ) I've only seen someone v*ing 2x. Once was a special needs child in a wheelchair and the other was a young child coming out of a park restaurant. Neither were a big deal and neither were on a ride! The chance of you seeing anything is beyond slim. Not going to happen! Have a great time with your friends!!!!

In my experience people seem to become n*/possibly v* more often from spinning rides than roller coasters. I used to be a huge fan of coasters and never actually saw anyone be sick on any. However, I know it does happen so it was always in the back of my mind. I would always try to sit as close to the front of the roller coaster train as possible (because I figured if someone was sick, I'd rather they were behind me) and try not to think about it during the ride. If you're fearful of yourself becoming sick you could always take some Dramamine/other motion sickness meds. I have friends who get motion sick pretty easily and as long as they take Dramamaine they can ride anything with no bad effects. And if you're still very fearful of it, you could always go to the parks, wait in line with your friends but skip out on the actual ride and wait for them at the end. Not much socializing is done on most rides so you wouldn't really be missing much.

You should go. If you don't want to go on one/any of the rides just say you are afraid of heights (which btw I am 100%!). Or just be honest say the ride makes you feel s*. My mom is like that.

But I love theme parks and rides, just not the heights. Honestly I am usually the one that holds all the girls purses when they go on rides, and they are always fine with it And I still have fun - so you can still have fun too! Do they have water rides? Try those, they are great. I hate heights but will still get on one of those any day!

There's a Busch Gardens within a few hours drive of where I live, and it has several roller coasters. I've never encountered anyone getting sick from them so, while it does happen, I don't think it's really that common.
I'd go to the party if I were you. You don't have to go on every ride. I agree with ChiGal about water rides. You can go on those with your friends, and for the rollercoasters just be honest and tell them that you don't like rollercoasters, so you'll wait while they ride.

Ive been in a situation where i say no to the rides with friends its no big deal. and i also heard rollercoasters dont necessarily make you sick compared to the ones that spin. My mum cant even go on a ride in a playground for little kids that spins but she'll be more than happy to hop on a rollercoaster. But id just go and say you dont like going on the rides its not that bad
No passion so effectively robs the mind of all its powers of acting and reasoning as fear.
