Is it snowing anywhere else? Here in PA. we're having our first significant snowstorm. There is something about snow that makes me think that a sv is just lurking around the corner. When I was younger, I usd to wish it wouldn't snow b/c I associated it with people getting sick. Weird, huh? Anyhoo... I love the snow now...as long as I am at home and not around anyone who could possibly be contaminated! Hooray! maybe my job will have a delay tomorrow!

You folks with snow are lucky. I love when it snows here but the down
side is that things pretty much close down and they treat it like the
world's coming to an end and I don't like that. If it doesn't snow by
the first of the year, I go up to the mountains on a day that snow is
    forcast just to see it.

I'm about 1½ hours north of Philly..in Emmaus...and we didn't get what they were prediciting. I think it first started snowing around 4:30am and by the time i woke up at 10am today it was all melted haha! Now THAT'S how i like my snow lol! Actually Beadgirl, snow in the winter is a GOOD thing, when it comes to sv's and such...cuz that means it's below freezing, and when it's THAT cold, it kills the germs going around. It's actually WORSE for colds and flus when it's a warmer winter (even though some ppl like it when it's warmer) cuz the germs and viruses can run rampid and spread more when it's above 32°.

Hey meercat - I'd also heard that when it gets below freezing that it
kills off the germs but someone disputed that when i posted about it
before. Not sure if it is true or not - but we can hope!!! Over here it
doesn't often get that cold - we probably get 2 or 3 weeks of snow
over the whole winter, and the rest of the time its mild and wet - not
    nice!!!!

Mandi- OMG I want one and I was gonna name it Chalupa!

Pretty Polly and meercat- I read that post once about the cold killing the germs. I think the problem is people all hang out inside and they are all breathing in that same air (kinda like a plane). What was that disease called in that post? Was it cholera?

We have about 2-3 inches of snow (ND)... first snowfall was last week. At least it cleans things up. Until it snows, it's so ugly and brown and everything's dead. I cannot wait til spring.

2jo2, funny how you mentioned about spring. I just read a little saying in a mag.

Darker days; Wave goodbye to the shortest day December 21st and watch as the sun rises a little earlier each morning. Only 89 days till spring. Yippee!!!!

    Cold kill germs???

I dont know about that one. Sure germs don't grow in certain
temperature ranges but I don't think you can freeze them to death. Cook
    them, that's another story.

I've heard that many times. When a bug is going around (in the northeast US.), it's common to hear people say "we need a good cold spell to kill off some of these germs".

I guess it's just that warmer atmospheres (over freezing), combined with people couped up indoors apparently turns winter into germ breeding grounds.

Mandi - my mom grew up in Euclid! I still have family there that I visit every now and then.

It is snowing a little bit here in Colorado, but mainly it is just COLD. THe high tomorrow is supposed to be 5 degrees. We had winds yesterday at 92 miles per hour. It was crazy! I am so ready for summer all ready!

I'm no scientist lol so im not going to say it's a FACT, but i have found that to hold true when it comes to below freezing temps killing off certain germs. The milder the winters are around here, the more ppl who are sick...go figure!

Well overnight we just got dumped with a total of 10" of snow in a span of a few hours!! That's more than enough, i don't want anymore hehe! I'd rather have 1 or 2 good blizzards during a winter, instead of a couple of inches every other friggin day!! LOL!
